A kid at heart and self-professed snacker, Khloé Kardashian wanted something healthy that both she and her kids would love. “I just want to feel good about the things I’m eating,” she told People.
“I’m at this stage in my [health] journey for the past few years that I’ve been really trying to up my protein intake. I’m all about muscle definition and being strong and healthy, not just skinny,” The Kardashians star revealed. When she couldn’t find exactly what she wanted in the grocery stores, she decided to create her own. So, Khloud Protein Popcorn was born.
Khloud Has 3x More Protein Than Regular Popcorn
While you might wonder why she chose popcorn, her reason is simple. “I don’t have some refined taste palette, I really don’t,” she confessed. So, she picked a nostalgic snack kids and adults alike love.
“Protein wise, I’m not someone that is going to sit down and have steak and eggs all day long, and I need to consume protein,” she confessed. “I was going to fitness stores to get protein, grab and go. And they don’t taste very well, in my opinion, and they’re filled with so much filler and artificial stuff. And I really just wanted something, selfishly, that tasted great, that didn’t have a ton of ingredients in it, that I could [fulfill] my protein intake [with].”
Khloud comes in three flavors: Olive Oil & Sea Salt, Sweet & Salty Kettle Corrn and White Cheddar. Along with containing a whopping 7 grams of protein per serving, it’s also seed-oil free, non-GMO, gluten-free, and kosher. The added protein — which she calls “Khloud dust” — is a powder made of a blend of milk proteins and seasonings.
Khloé Kardashian Launched Khloud Amid ‘Disappointment’ With the Food Industry
Perhaps most importantly, Kardashian created Khloud wanting to make something that’s transparent in its ingredients. As the mother to daughter True, 7, and son Tatum, 2, she just wants to give her kids foods that she can feel good about, and she’s become frustrated with what she finds in the grocery store.
“I’m disappointed in so much of the food industry these days, and for me, it’s very overwhelming to sometimes pack lunches for my kids or even know what I want, and this is just the very start of what I hope Khloud will be,” Kardashian said. “What I really pray comes of [Khloud] is a trusting relationship. It’s not just for kids, but for my kids. I’ve given them a lot of foods. I’m going to sound very corny, but I’ve given them products … that I trusted and then you look into it, and you’re like, ‘Wait, this is just as bad as [an unhealthy] product.’”
