The final episode of “Destination X” will air on Tuesday, July 29, at 10:00 p.m. ET on NBC. The travel competition show, hosted by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, has fascinated fans with its concept and selection of contestants. However, something not everyone saw coming was a romance between two of the competitors, and “The Walking Dead” actor is sharing his thoughts on it.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan Reacts to “Destination X” Showmance
The competition began with 12 contestants from various walks of life. Some were already reality TV stars like “The Challenge” and “Big Brother” alum Josh Martinez, “Love Island USA” star JaNa Craig, and “The Bachelor” alum Peter “Pilot Pete” Weber. Audiences were also introduced to nine new faces: Kim Conner, Biggy Bailey, Shayne Cureton, Tai Lowry, Jonah Evarts, Rachel Rossette, Ally Bross, Rick Szabo, and Mack Fitzgerald.
Shayne and Ally ended up in an onscreen romance, and Morgan is sharing his thoughts on what happened — and how he did not expect these two competitors to end up together.
“What’s funny is that I thought Shayne and Tai would get together,” Morgan told Parade in an interview published on July 25. “On day two, they were rubbing legs together. And I totally misread that. I was picking on him on day three, going, ‘Got a little thing going here?’ He was like, ‘No, dude, you’re wrong, because I got a crush on Ally.’ And Ally’s like, ‘I got a crush on Shayne.’ So I read that one wrong.”
Did Ally & Shayne Continue To Date After “Destination X?”
Ally was eliminated in the Venice “The Knives Are Out” episode. She made it to the final five. Shayne was next to be eliminated. He left in Monte Carlo, Monaco, in the “How’s Your Poker Face?” episode and ultimately placed fourth. They did continue to date after the show, but it was short-lived, Parade reports. And after Ally’s split from Shayne, she started dating another contestant, Mack Fitzgerald.
“I knew four or five months ago about the Ally and Mack aspect of things, and I was completely surprised,” Morgan admits. “I couldn’t be more happy for them. Because I think they’re very happy, and God bless them. But I’ve seen a lot of their Instagram posts, and I think they started a podcast together. The hints were there. I didn’t see a lot of Shayne in the mix in the last four months. It was a lot of Ally and Mack. So I think if the audience was paying attention, they might have known this was coming.”
As we head into the finale of “Destination X,” only three contestants remain: Peter, Biggy, and Rick. Ally may not have won the grand prize of $250,000, but she arguably left with something better: love!
