History Channel TV Star Passes Away & Tributes Pour In

Junior Edwards, the star of History Channel’s long-running docuseries “Swamp People,” has died. His passing was announced in a Facebook post created by his grandson, “Lil” Willie Edwards, on July 26.


‘Swamp People’ Star’s Passing Is Announced

“Lil” Willie wrote a heartfelt tribute to his grandfather. “Rest easy pawpaw,” he wrote, People reports. “I know [you’re] probably running your hoop nets or doing something crazy inside those pearly gates. You will be extremely missed pawpaw. We love you more than anything!!! Until we meet again.”

Edwards’ family chose not go give personal details about how and she he died, instead reflecting on the life he lived and how he will be missed. However, “Lil” Willie made an announcement earlier this month, on July 6, informing fans that his grandfather was unwell. “Well guys, those of you that don’t know … my grandpa has been dealing with some health issues,” Willie wrote, People reports. “Y’all keep him in y’all’s thoughts and prayers please…we need a miracle. Get better for us papa, we love you!!!”

Fans and loved ones have reacted to the news of Edwards’ passing, including his former co-star Ronnie Adams. Adams made an Instagram post on July 26, sharing a photo, and in the caption, he sent his love to the Edwards family. “Praying for the Edward’s in this time of need!!! Rest in peace Junior!!!” he wrote.

“Swamp People” star Ashley “Deadeye” Jones also made a tribute to Edwards on Instagram on July 26. She posted a photo of Edwards and herself looking into the camera, and in the caption, she shared her thoughts with a heartfelt statement. “The world lost a legend! Mr Junior Edwards passed away! Please be in prayer for the family! He was one of the greatest alligator hunters there is!” she wrote. “He was real hardcore outdoorsman! I watched this man bring in MONSTER gators at Duffys Gas Station in Pierre Part LA. This was after a looooong day for both of us and you can tell it! Glad we took a second for a pic!”

On Jones’ Instagram post, fans have reacted to the news of Edward’s death, sharing their heartfelt condolences. “Oh no!! Praying for Teresa and Willie!!” a fan wrote. “I’m sorry to hear that Ashley. Please give Teresa, Willie and the boys my condolence,” another comment reads.
