“It Still Stings”: E! News Hosts Speak Out After Show’s Cancellation

Former longtime E! News hosts Giuliana Rancic and Jason Kennedy are speaking out following the announcement that E! News will officially end its television run later this year.

Rancic, who co-anchored the entertainment program from 2002 to 2021, posted a heartfelt message on Instagram to thank fans and reflect on her time with the show.

“For 20 incredible years, E! News was my second home and family,” she wrote. “As the show comes to an end, I feel so fortunate to have been a part of this pop culture phenomenon that aired in over 100 countries and allowed me to travel around the globe, meeting the most amazing and loyal viewers.”

“Thank you to every single one of you for letting us into your homes every night. Anchoring E! News was my dream job and the professional honor of a lifetime. #endofanera,” she added.

Jason Kennedy, who worked at E! News for years and returned as a contributor during its recent iteration, also responded to the news on Instagram.

“End of an era for sure,” he wrote. “Although I was just a contributor in this second iteration of E! News, it still stings. Very talented humans lost their job in this frustrating and ever-changing business we call television.”

Fans and Colleagues Share Support After Show’s Announcement

Alongside Rancic and Kennedy’s messages, fans and fellow television personalities flooded the comments with support and nostalgia.

“The Giuliana and Jason era was simply unmatched in the best of times,” one user wrote. Another said, “So many of us pursued careers in entertainment because of YOU and the mark you made at E! News.”

“You were E! News. Haven’t watched since you left but definitely end of an era ❤️,” a third fan commented.

Current E! News co-host Keltie Knight, who leads the nightly broadcast alongside Justin Sylvester, also chimed in. “Don’t make me cry jk. We love you. This is hard for all of us who just freaking love making TV ❤️,” Knight commented on Kennedy’s post.

As of now, neither current co-host Justin Sylvester nor former longtime host Ryan Seacrest has publicly commented on the cancellation.

E! News Will End TV Broadcast in September, Shift Focus to Digital

E! News will officially end its on-air broadcast on Sept. 25, 2025. The move comes as part of a larger strategy shift under Versant, the newly formed company overseeing E! following its spinoff from NBCUniversal.

Launched in 1991, the long-running show was once a staple of celebrity coverage, red carpet interviews, and pop culture moments. The program was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but relaunched in 2022 as a late-night format.

Executives cited changing viewer behavior and a focus on real-time content across platforms like TikTok and Instagram as key reasons for ending the linear broadcast. “The show’s 11 p.m. time slot no longer serves pop culture fans that prefer real-time coverage throughout the day,” a source told AdWeek, as reported by Daily Mail.

While the TV show is ending, E! News will remain active as a digital brand. Earlier this year, E! reported a 52% increase in TikTok views and strong growth across its 87 million followers on social media.

Kennedy took to Instagram Stories to respond to the outpouring of support, writing, “Y’all have me deep in my feelings 🥹❤️.” In another slide, he joked, “Does anyone need a receptionist while this business figures itself out?” — a nod to the industry uncertainty he and many others are feeling after the show’s cancellation.
