“Real Housewives of Orange County” star Vicki Gunvalson’s boyfriend of two years, Michael Smith, is not interested in the spotlight.
During a brief appearance on the December 2 episode of Nick Viall’s podcast, “The Viall Files,” alongside Gunvalson, Smith said he does not want to appear on reality television.
“When Vicki and I started dating I told her, I said, ‘Honey I don’t want to be on this show. I don’t want to do any of that,’” said Smith to Viall.
He quipped, “With my business, I have enough problems.” In addition, Smith clarified that he is supportive of Gunvalson’s endeavors.
“I’ll sit and have dinner with her and other people. And in New York and things like that. I’m very supportive of her. But it’s – I don’t have a desire to do that,” said Smith during the interview.
Gunvalson mentioned that Smith prefers his privacy in a July 2022 interview with Extra.
“He is so private and classy. And he wants nothing to do with social media and Instagram,” said Gunvalson to Extra.
Vicki Gunvalson Said Her Boyfriend Is Moving to Arizona
Gunvalson said that Smith is moving to Arizona for at least a year in a November 2024 episode of her podcast, “My Friend, My Soulmate, My Podcast.” During the podcast episode, Gunvalson said she does not have family in the Orange County area.
“I don’t have anybody in California. Everybody is moving away, including my boyfriend,” said Gunvalson.
She then explained that Smith is “a developer and he’s doing a project that’s going to be a couple of years.”
“But we live together in California. But he’s going back and forth. And it’s hard. It’s my new normal now. So I don’t know where I’m going to end up,” said Gunvalson.
Gunvalson also said she is unhappy about the situation as she does not want to be away from Smith. In addition, she said that Smith could be living in Arizona for “two or three [years], depending on how many projects come in.”
Michael Smith Shared What He Loves About Vicki Gunvalson
Smith opened up about his relationship with Gunvalson in a joint February 2024 interview on Jeff Lewis‘ radio show, “Jeff Lewis Live.” He said he has enjoyed dating Gunvalson, who he met through their mutual friend, RHOC alum Kelly Dodd.
“We spend almost every minute together. I enjoy it,” said Smith to Lewis.
Smith, who described Gunvalson as his “best friend,” also shared why he loves her.
“She’s genuine. She has a huge heart. We’ve been dating a little over two years now … We have a great time,” said Smith on Lewis’ radio show.
