Teddi Mellencamp Shares What Her Father, John Mellencamp, Told Her Friends After Brain Surgery

Former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Teddi Mellencamp shared that her father singer John Mellencamp had some advice for her friends following her February 2025 brain surgery.

During an April 2025 interview with Extra TV, Mellencamp noted that she underwent emergency surgery to remove brain tumors. While she was hospitalized following her surgery, she was visited by quite a few of her loved ones. According to Mellencamp, she was not in the best mood while she was recovering from brain surgery and would snap at her friends, including RHOBH star Kyle Richards. She said her father advised her friends not to take what she said personally.

“I was in an exceptionally bad mood. I couldn’t be meaner. Like someone would say something to me and I would be like, ‘Are you going to leave yet?’ I don’t even remember. But my dad comes in and is like, ‘Ladies, ladies, I just want to remind everybody no hurt feelings.’ And Kyle’s like ‘My feelings are hurt.’ ‘No hurt feelings. She doesn’t know what she’s doing,'” recalled Mellencamp during the interview.

Teddi Mellencamp Said Her Father Often Checks in on Her

During an April 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Mellencamp said her father often checks in on her.

“He calls every day to check on me. Some days, I’m not in the mood, I don’t want a pep talk. [I tell him], ‘I’ll talk to you tomorrow, I’ll be more pep talk-ready, but I love you,'” shared Mellencamp while speaking to the publication.

Mellencamp also said her father, who “had a heart attack when he was 36,” offered her some advice about slowing down following serious health issues.

“I remember his life completely changing. And some of the moments [when] I felt really scared, I was like, ‘Hold on. I’m not changing everything about my life. I want more things. I want to keep building.’ But he’s like, ‘There are moments where you emotionally won’t be able to control how you’re feeling because of a certain medication or a certain whatever. And you have to give yourself some grace and know this isn’t you sometimes. And that’s OK,'” said Mellencamp to Us Weekly.

Teddi Mellencamp Gave a Positive Update

On April 24, Mellencamp, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma, shared a positive update with her Instagram followers. In the caption of the post, Mellencamp wrote, “All tumors stage 4 (metastasized melanoma in my brain and lungs) shrunk or disappeared” because of immunotherapy and radiation.

“I have 6ish more weeks of immunotherapy and doctors believe I will be healed if everything stays on course. Thank you to everyone who has sent their love, prayers, and positivity ❤️❤️❤️,” continued Mellencamp.

Richards commented on the post, writing, “BEST DAY EVER!!!!! So grateful😭❤️.”
