“The Real Housewives of Orange County” alum Lydia McLaughlin shared a sweet update on her family, and her boys are so grown up. McLaughlin and her husband Doug share three sons, Stirling, 16, Maverick, 14, and Roman, 10.
McLaughlin took to Instagram to post a video of her and her family that flashes back to many years earlier with them all in the same spot, in similar poses. “Who has changed the most?” she wrote in the caption.
The video was taken during the family’s yearly trip to Newfoundland, Canada, where the reality star grew up. “… it’s so important to me that my boys know their newfie roots,” McLaughlin wrote. “I’m so thankful for traditions, our family legacy, and these precious moments with my boys …”
Lydia McLaughlin’s Oldest Son Is Already Making Career Moves
McLaughlin comes from a successful family, something she spoke about during her time on “RHOC.” Her grandfather Geoff Stirling founded North America’s first 24-hour TV news station, and now her son Stirling is set to follow in his footsteps.
Part of the reason the McLaughlins were recently in Newfoundland was so Stirling could intern at the family business, NTV News. “Watching Stirling intern in the newsroom as the 4th generation at our family’s TV station, to Mav and Roman roaming the same rocks I grew up on, it was a special few weeks,” McLaughlin captioned another Instagram post. “I’m so thankful for these moments and this beautiful life. God is good.”
One of the videos featured in the carousel of pics shows Stirling in the newsroom expressing his gratitude for the experience while receiving applause. It’s no wonder McLaughlin is such a proud mom!
The McLaughlin Family Is Resilient After Tragedy
Over the course of the past year the McLaughlin family suffered two major losses. In October of 2024, McLaughlin lost her beloved mom, Judy Stirling, to breast cancer. The former “RHOC” star broke the news via a post on Instagram that featured an adorable picture of her and her mom wearing tiaras, laughing and hugging.
Fans of “RHOC” likely remember Judy for being ultra laid-back and often the life of the party. “My mom passed away last night. We are heart broken but we know she’s dancing with Jesus,” McLaughlin captioned her post. “Fairydust, confetti bombs and crowns like heaven has never seen before.”
In April, McLaughlin was dealt another devastating blow when her brother Geoffrey was killed in a police shooting during a routine traffic stop. “My family and I are devastated by the loss of my brother. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, and the community,” McLaughlin shared in a statement to TMZ at the time.
After such a difficult year, it’s great to see McLaughlin and her family thriving and enjoying life.
