Dorit Kemsley Was Not Afraid of Holding Back in RHOBH Season 14
Kemsley joined “RHOBH” in season 7 as former housewife Lisa Vanderpump’s friend, and she has since remained one of the main cast members.
During season 14, she opened up about her divorce from her husband Paul Kemsley (PK), while also navigating her tumultuous relationship with Sutton Stracke and Kyle Richards.
“You know, since I joined ‘Housewives,’ I was polarizing from the get-go and in the belly of the beast, as you say. I heard a lot of people say, ‘Season Seven Dorit has returned. She got her voice back.’ And I understand what they’re saying,” she told Interview in March.
The reality star admitted that being vocal about her split with PK wasn’t easy on their relationship. “It’s actually caused a lot of issues. You know, we were very amicable and friendly, and then we filmed,” she said.
“He knew going into the season I had to live in truth and be able to share, because that’s my job and that’s what I signed up to do. And it’s actually something that PK, out of all people, is very comfortable with,” Kemsley added.
Kemsley Considered Stepping Away From RHOBH
Kemsley revealed to Bravo’s “Hot Mic Podcast” that she was unsure about returning to “RHOBH” ahead of season 14, but former cast member Lisa Rinna convinced her to stay.
“She said to me, ‘Dorit, if you’re going to do it, then do it. No holds barred. Guns blazing, you go in, and you do it. Be your self. Don’t hold back,'” Kemsley said.
She went on to explain, “I had unfinished business. I had too much I need to say. I didn’t leave the impression that I wanted to leave really, of who I am.”
Despite their impending divorce, Kemsley said PK has always been supportive of her starring in “RHOBH” and she still loves many things about him.
