Kyle Richards said she is looking for a committed relationship nearly two years after announcing her separation from Mauricio Umansky.
“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star spoke out on the January 28 episode of “The RHOBH After Show” and shared what she is looking for in a relationship after spending more than 30 years with Umansky.
After her co-star Erika Jayne said she doesn’t want to be “beholden to a man” ever again and is just “looking for a good time,” Richards, 56, disagreed. “For me, I don’t want to just have a good time,” the RHOBH OG said. “I mean, I want to be in love and in a committed relationship, 100 percent.”
Jayne noted that it was “interesting” to hear Richards say that. “Because you’ve been in a committed relationship since you were 18 years old,” the singer noted.
“I know, but I don’t know if I’m that person to go out and … I know I’m not that person to be like ’Oh that guy’s cute’,” Richards explained. “To me, it’s about a soul. It would just have to be someone shows up in your life serendipitous and you have a soul connection, and that’s it.”
“I have enough [cowboy hats] to go around,” she added of her future mate.
Kyle Richards Hasn’t Been Single Since the 1980s
Richards has been in near back-to-back relationships since she was a teenager in the 1980s.
According to BravoTV.com, Richards previously revealed that her first boyfriend was actor Thomas Howell. She dated “The Outsiders” actor for five years in the mid-1980s. “Serious boyfriend for a very long time,” she told host Andy Cohen on Sirius XM’s “Radio Andy” in 2015. “It was a nightmare going out in public with him,” she added of the teen heartthrob. “I would be like with Rob Lowe and Tom Cruise and Matt Dillon.”
In 1988, 19-year-old Richards married Guraish Aldjufrie and welcomed a daughter, Farrah, with him that same year. Richards and Aldjufrie divorced in 1992, and soon after she became involved in another serious relationship.
During a 2014 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” Richards confirmed she was engaged to a much older man right before she met Umansky.
“You were engaged when you met Mauricio. You were engaged to a CBS newscaster 24 years older than you,” Cohen said to Richards on WWHL.
While she admitted she was “uncomfortable” to talk about it, Richards said to Cohen, “I have to give names? Michael Tuck, CBS. Action News.”
Richards ended things with Tuck in 1994 when she met Umansky at a nightclub called Bar One. That same year, Umansky proposed to her during a romantic dinner at Shutters restaurant in Santa Monica, California.
“The moment we started dating, I just felt like he was the one,” Richards told The Knot in 2021. “And a few months into dating he had asked me if I would consider converting to Judaism. … It was really a no-brainer for me. … so I was like, ‘Yes, I’ll convert!’ So then I just had to wait for the ring.”
Richards and Umansky have been married for 29 years but have been separated since July 2023.
Kyle Richards Has Dealt With Rumors About Her Sexuality

Amid her split from her husband, Richards was hesitant to date. In a March 27, 2024 appearance on the “Let’s Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa” podcast, she admitted that it was “really hard to wrap [her] head around” the idea of dating. “I’m not going on any dating apps. I can tell you that,” she shared.
She has also dealt with rumors about her sexuality due to her close friendship with singer Morgan Wade. During “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” season 13 reunion, Cohen even asked her if she would ever date a woman. “This last year-and-a-half I have changed. I don’t know what the future holds, so why wouldn’t I say maybe?” Richards admitted.
But when the 14th season of RHOBH rolled around, Richards refused to say Wade’s name on camera—even though the “Wilder Days” singer made several cameos in season 13.
On the RHOBH season 14 episode “What the Chuck,” co-star Garcelle Beauvais gave Richards a piece of advice. “I’m going to be 100 percent blunt,” Beauvais said. “Do whatever the [expletive] you want to do. Be whoever you want to be. If you want to be a lesbian, be a lesbian.”
While Richards took offense to the comment, Beauvais explained what she meant on the January 29 episode of “Watch What Happens Live.” “It wasn’t so much about her, it’s just being free, do whatever you want to do,” Beauvais explained. “That was the message.”
