Bravo Star Shares She’s ‘Really Proud’ That She Called Off Her Engagement

“Real Housewives of New York City” alum Kelly Bensimon opened up about ending her relationship with her ex-fiance, Scott Litner.

While speaking to Us Weekly in December 2024, Bensimon said she did not regret breaking up with Litner six months ago. She said the split has been beneficial for herself, Litner, and her daughters, Sea Bensimon and Teddy Bensimon.

“I couldn’t do it. I’m better for it. He’s better for it. My kids are better for it. It wasn’t the right fit. I’m actually really proud of myself that I was just like, ‘No, we’re not doing this,'” said Bensimon to Us Weekly.

She also said that she has experienced personal growth following her breakup.

“I have had a metamorphosis, I swear to God, I am like a butterfly. Between therapy and my new podcast, ‘I Do Part Two’ on iHeartRadio, I feel like a totally different person. I am finally feeling like myself again,” said Bensimon to Us Weekly.

Kelly Bensimon Explained Why She Ended Her Relationship

During a July 2024 interview with the Daily Mail, Bensimon said she was “obviously extremely disappointed” that she was not going forward with her wedding with Litner. She said, however, that she needed to end her relationship as Litner chose not to sign a prenuptial agreement.

“This is something that was building up over time and the prenup was a big deal for me,” said Bensimon to the publication. “It’s like when you’re a single parent, whether you have thousands in your account or you have a 100 million in your account, women are going to need to protect themselves, and I’m just not going to take a risk.”

Kelly Bensimon Made Clarifying Comments About Her Breakup in a December 2024 Podcast Interview

Bensimon made clarifying comments about her split during a December 2024 interview on Tamra Judge and Teddi Mellencamp‘s podcast, “Two Ts In A Pod.” She said that she and her ex-fiance did talk “about trusts and estates” before she brought up wanting a prenuptial agreement.

“I was like, ‘I need to get a prenup because I needed to get a trust.’ And I didn’t have time. And so, I was like, it’s fine. I’ll just get this prenup. And he wouldn’t sign it,” said Bensimon during the December 2024 interview.

She also shared why she wanted to have a prenup before marrying Litner.

“He had a very messy personal life that I knew about. Wild ex-wives. All these kids. And all this stuff was going on. And like, my life is very neat and clean. I’m a single parent. I raised my kids on my own. I’m their financial provider,” said Bensimon.

She clarified that she probably would have not married Litner even if he signed the prenup.

“It was too messy. It was too dramatic,” said Bensimon on Judge and Mellencamp’s podcast.

She stated, however, that Litner is “a very nice human.”
