“Real Housewives of Miami” star Guerdy Abraira is opening up about being cancer-free.
While speaking to Extra TV in April 2025 at the Women’s Cancer Research Fund, Abraira referenced that she has been in remission for over a year following a battle with breast cancer.
“Now I’m on the other side of it. And now it’s all about showing that phoenix rising,” said Abraira to the publication.
She also said she wanted to film her story on RHOM “to give hope” to Bravo fans who may be going through something similar. She clarified she wanted to be honest about her cancer journey while the cameras were rolling.
“I was in it organically to say, ‘It’s not good. It’s not pretty, it’s ugly. But we got to do this,'” said Abraira during the interview with Extra TV.
She also urged those who have cancer to know that “it’s not your fault.”
“Cancer just picks whoever. And you are going to have to leave it to whatever higher being or higher belief that you have. And then secondly, it’s like just do that work. This is just like everything else in life,” said Abraira.
Guerdy Abraira Celebrated Being Cancer-Free in December 2023
Abraira confirmed she was cancer-free in a December 2023 interview with FOX 5 New York. She noted that she had undergone two surgeries, as well as chemotherapy and radiation.
“Four rounds of chemo, 20 rounds of radiation. Two surgeries, and a lot of MRIs, a lot of scans, and I am now officially cancer-free,” said Abraira.
While speaking to People magazine in October 2024, Abraira noted that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in early 2023. She said she decided to tell her story on RHOM because she felt, “God told [her] that [she is] the ambassador to do it.”
Guerdy Abraira Shared How Her Life Changed After Having Breast Cancer
During the People magazine interview, Abraira shared how her life changed since having breast cancer.
“I’m Guerdy 2.0 now. Selfish is the way I want to live my life because I was giving so much of myself to others. The stress of deadlines, floor plans—I almost get PTSD in a way,” said the RHOM star.
She also said she is focused on her husband, Russell Abraira, and their children, Miles and Liam.
“I’m obsessed with my life right now. I’m up in my kids’ business all day long. Every day we’re closer than ever,” said Abraira in the People magazine interview.
