Former RHOBH Star Defends Sutton Stracke & Garcelle Beauvais Amid Co-Star’s Comments

Kathryn Edwards defended Sutton Stracke and Garcelle Beauvais after their co-star Erika Jayne claimed they don’t reveal “their lives” on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”

Edwards, who was a main cast member on the 6th season of the Bravo reality show—the same season that also introduced fans to Jayne—shared her thoughts on the January 13, 2025, episode of the “Behind the Velvet Rope With David Yontef” podcast.

After Yontef brought up Jayne’s recent interview in which she claimed her two co-stars don’t show everything on camera, Edwards first wondered if the “Pretty Mess” singer was referring to their dating lives or something else.

“I don’t agree with that,” Edwards said, before questioning if the comment was made because Stracke and Beauvais don’t go as ”low” as their co-star. “No, because they’re not an [expletive]…. they’re nicer? … No, I don’t I don’t agree with that at all. And I think Sutton’s like, I mean, what about the year she was like crying when she was fighting with Crystal [Kung Minoff]? … I mean, she wasn’t always, you know, so safe. She stuck her neck out.”

“No, I disagree with that strongly,” Edwards continued. “I like Sutton, I think Sutton gets down and dirty. I mean, Sutton sat in the first chair closest to Andy because she was the one. No. Garcelle I could see a little bit, but I feel I don’t think Garcelle’s personality is like she’s just at a different level of communication. You’re not going to see her ever talk to people the way you know, EriKa does where she grits her teeth and curses someone and, you know, and calls them every name. No, no, sorry. No.”

Jayne spoke out about her RHOBH co-stars during a November interview with Entertainment Tonight. During the interview, she noted how her difficult moments have been heavily documented on the Bravo reality show, then alleged that her co-stars haven’t been as forthcoming on camera. “I feel as if, if I was able to lay it all out there, then you should be able to, as well,” she said. “I’d like for Sutton and Garcelle to reveal their lives. … I just feel as if, you know, nothing is as it appears.”

She also speculated that Stracke and Beauvais “perform” to please the viewers. Jayne clarified that she is on good terms with both women. “We text back and forth,” she said. “I’ve never had a better relationship with Sutton. And with Garcelle, as well. I’ve actually said I would love to work on my relationship with both of them.”

During Stracke’s first season on RHOBH, she was brought in as a “friend” because she wasn’t able to show her full life. At the time, her ex-husband Christian would not allow their minor children, Porter, Philip, and James, to be filmed.

“My ex-husband just was adamant that they could not film with me and I totally get it,” Stracke told the “Reality Life with Kate Casey” podcast at the time. “It was hard. It was a hard blow because it’s exciting to do. And I wanted also viewers to see me with my kids and me at home.”

But since that time, Porter and Philip have appeared on RHOBH. Beauvais’ three kids Oliver, Jax, and Jaid, have also made multiple appearances on RHOBH. Both women have shared details about their careers and dating lives as well.

After getting wind of Jayne’s comments, Stracke told Decider she’s been open about her life. “I think that I have given a lot of my life up,” she told the outlet, noting that she even shared details about her father’s tragic death on camera. “I’ve talked about my dad’s suicide openly and, actually for the first time ever, I brought it up with Erika – for the first time with a friend, really. And then to bring it to the audience and to join NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) as an ambassador to help awareness of suicide survivors. So, that’s a big deal for me, to expose that part of my life.”

“I don’t know how much deeper I can go. … I couldn’t [film with my children] until they were 18, so I can’t do anything about that,” she said. “My dating life has been repeatedly shown. So, I don’t know. I know that what I do is real and I can only be my authentic self, and I think it’s enough for the audience. I think this year, this season, we see a lot more of my private life that I give up.”
