“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Erika Jayne shared a positive update about her friend and former castmate, Teddi Mellencamp.
During an April 2025 interview with Page Six, Jayne shared how Mellencamp, who is her co-host on her podcast, “Diamonds in the Rough,” has been doing as she navigates her battle with stage 4 melanoma.
“She’s doing very well. She’s very active and she’s living her life to the fullest,” said Jayne to the publication.
Jayne also said that she and Mellencamp’s other friends have been strong sources of support.
“I am strong for her. All of us are strong for her. She is in the fight of her life. And her friends that are closest to her will be there for her,” said Jayne during the interview.
Teddi Mellencamp Spoke About Being Strong for Her Loved Ones
During a March 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Mellencamp said she wants to be strong for her loved ones amid her cancer battle.
“I’m fighting for my life. But also for my family’s life and all the people I love,” said Mellencamp to the publication.
She also spoke about how her children, Dove, Slate, and Cruz, whom she shares with her estranged husband, Edwin Arroyave, have been affected by her cancer. Mellencamp explained when she would be away for work, she would tell her children, “Moms always come back.” However, since her February 2025 surgery to remove tumors in her brain, she has refrained from saying this to her children.
“I have not said that line to them since I’ve been back [from the hospital]. They all know that I’m fighting the hardest I possibly can, but I haven’t said [it] because I don’t want to lie to them. And I don’t know,” said Mellencamp during the Us Weekly interview.
Teddi Mellencamp Shared How She Has Been Handling Her Cancer Diagnosis
While speaking to Us Weekly, Mellencamp, who has several tumors in her brain and lungs, shared how she has kept her humor intact.
“Everybody wants me to be super positive all the time. One of my coping mechanisms is being sarcastic. I’d rather joke about it and have the best possible outcome than be completely in denial and have my heart broken,” said Mellencamp.
Mellencamp made similar comments during an April 2025 interview with “Nightline.” She said, “if [she] didn’t find humor, [she] would cry.”
“Even with my kids, like the other day, we kept forgetting something, and we would all just go, ‘The tumors!’ It’s kind of the only way because if not I would just be crying all the time,” said Mellencamp.
