Longtime “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Dolores Catania is speaking out about the network’s decision to put the franchise on pause. While fans would normally be looking forward to a new season hitting the air in the new year, RHONJ hasn’t filed anything since the season 14 finale.
“We didn’t film last season, so we’re not coming back… we’re not going to be airing in January or February. Of course, I’d look forward to seeing my cast come back on the screen or even come back to film, but they made a mess. I’m a little mad that everybody couldn’t get it together. I really am,” Catania told People magazine.
“We’ve traveled the world together, we’ve cried together, we fought together. You have to move on, otherwise, you’ll have no one in your life. Now we have no one,” she continued.
Following the end of RHONJ, Catania inked a deal to appear on season 3 of “The Traitors,” which will be available for streaming on Peacock in January 2025.
Dolores Catania Thinks the Group Can Come Together After Some Time Away
There has been all kinds of chatter about the future of RHONJ, especially in regards to whether or not any of the old cast will be asked to return. However, things are at a total standstill heading into 2025.
In her interview with People magazine, Catania isn’t too sure whether a complete cast reboot would work.
“I feel like we’re an ensemble and I can’t see anyone else but the people that I was with. It’s like a family. Can you see yourself with other people in your family?” she asked.
“I think that given some time for things to cool down, maybe they would try,” Catania told People of the possibility that the current cast could return for a 15th season.
“It’s time to put egos aside. You don’t throw something like this away. We had great ratings. We did well—we just have to learn how to act. This is what life is. It’s about fighting and making up,” she added.
Andy Cohen Is in No Rush to Bring Back RHONJ
In a November 2024 interview with People magazine, executive producer Andy Cohen explained why he isn’t in a rush to get RHONJ season 15 off the ground.
“We have a lot of Housewives going right now,” he told the outlet. “And it’s one of the reasons it took so long to get ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ going, and one of the reasons we’re in a deep pause with ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey.’ We just want to make sure we get everything right and be very deliberate with everything we’re doing. … We love these shows, we all want to get it right,” he added.
He echoed this in an interview with Deadline.
“We are taking our time, we are in no rush,” he said of RHONJ. “We’re really gratified with what’s on the slate for next year,” he continued.
