‘Grateful’ ‘Real Housewives of Dallas’ Star Diagnosed With Cancer

D’Andra Simmons, former cast member of “The Real Housewives of Dallas,” has revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The 56-year-old reality television personality announced the news via Instagram on Monday, July 29, while undergoing treatment at a facility with deep personal ties.

D’Andra Simmons Faces the Journey Filled With Strength & Support

“I didn’t think I would be the recipient of care at the UTSW Simmons Cancer Center my uncle Harold Simmons and his Foundation established almost 30 years ago, but now I have breast cancer,” she wrote. Simmons added, “After today, I will add breast cancer survivor to a long list of life experiences.”

In a series of Instagram Stories, Simmons explained the treatment process and detailed the intense schedule of procedures she faced that day.

The Bravo star revealed that the first step was seed localization, a procedure that involves placing a small, radioactive seed directly into the tumor. “That way when the surgeon goes in, they’ll know exactly where to take the tumor out,” she explained.

The second procedure involved identifying which lymph nodes should be removed during surgery. Simmons did not disclose the stage of her cancer but noted it was a “very busy, packed morning.”

“The next phase is the surgery,” she said. “I told you it’s going to be kind of a long day.”

She was accompanied by her husband, Jeremy Lock, who drove her to the hospital and humorously told her, “Let’s get that s—t out of there,” prompting Simmons to laugh and reply, “What did you say? You said a bad word.” Her mother, Dee Simmons, was also present in the hospital, offering support from the waiting room.

‘Truly Grateful’

Speaking from the heart, Simmons added that she is “truly grateful to have such an excellent care team in place.” She also shared that she is the third woman on her mother’s side of the family to receive a breast cancer diagnosis, adding, “that we know about.”

“After today, I will add breast cancer survivor to a long list of life experiences,” Simmons said.

She concluded her announcement with gratitude: “I look forward to telling my story to inspire others in the future. Thank you to everyone that has sent prayers and support to my family and me. We appreciate it so very much and love having your support. ❤️🙏”

Simmons first joined the cast of “The Real Housewives of Dallas” in its second season and remained on the show through its fifth and final season in 2021. According to her official website, she is currently the CEO of Hard Night Good Morning skincare and Ultimate Living International, a well-known nutrition company.
