Former “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Crystal Kung Minkoff announced that she would not be re-joining her castmates in season 14 back in April 2024. While she may not be on Bravo screens anymore, Minkoff is still hard at work as she started a new podcast, “Humble Brag”, with “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Cynthia Bailey.
In a December 21 interview with Parade, Minkoff and Bailey discussed their new show, which they shared would not be a ‘Housewives’ recap podcast (though they would still talk about the franchise when it came up, given it is a big part of their lives).
“[The podcast is] really so cathartic and I think for me, I struggled most [on RHOBH] with people seeing me a certain way that I had no control over,” Minkoff told the outlet. “Because you’re on the show, and you have to respect the network and the experience of it… I’m a team player, but actually, it really like took a toll on me emotionally… The problem with the show is you don’t like me because of what was shown in this edit and then I have to live with that? That was really hard.”
How Did Cynthia Bailey & Crystal Kung Minkoff Meet?
Minkoff and Bailey, an “odd couple” per Minkoff’s admission, explained how they first connected during their podcast’s inaugural episode from October 2024. “When I first started ‘Housewives’,” Minkoff explained, “people would call me the Cynthia of Beverly Hills. Well, I thought, she must be amazing… I was introduced to you in my mind [first].”
Minkoff then went on to detail the pair’s first actual meeting, saying, “We first met via my friend who was hosting an event in LA at the Peninsula. I remember seeing you across the room, the seas parted… I saw you and we started talking and you were so warm and so nice and I had just done the show for a year, and I felt like I was sort of a black sheep in the environment of Bravo. I didn’t connect with anyone, you see people going to dinner all the time.”
“That’s called first season,” Bailey joked.
Over time, the pair built a lasting friendship, and as Minkoff told Parade, “I had been developing this podcast for two years, and every time I was ready to go I just was like, ‘I don’t know.’ I wasn’t quite ready yet. I just thought, I really want the right partner, and one day it hit me … it’s Cynthia.”
Crystal Kung Minkoff & Cynthia Bailey Talk Fan Response to Their Podcast
“Humble Brag” is certainly resonating with listeners, as just two months after it launched in October 2024, the series has already landed on Apple Podcast’s Top 10 New Shows list.
In their Parade interview, the “Humble Brag” hosts also shared how grateful they are for their audience reaction, with Bailey explaining that she received a lot of positive feedback on the show while attending Bravo Fan Fest in Miami in November 2024.
“When I tell you how many fans came up to me, like hundreds of them, saying how much they love ‘Humble Brag!’ I was like, ‘Wait, what?’ I was calling Crystal and I was like, ‘Bitch people really like “Humble Brag”!'” Bailey said.
