‘Real Housewives’ Alum Says Motherhood Is ‘Amazing’ 5 Months After Welcoming Son

Real Housewives of Potomac” alum Candiace Dillard Bassett is opening up about motherhood after her first child, Jett Maxwell Lee Bassett, was born in October 2024.

During a March 2025 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dillard Bassett said being a mother is “amazing.” She clarified that it has not been without its challenges.

“It is the most raggidy, amazing thing, beautiful, crazy hood that I’ve ever belonged to. I wouldn’t trade it for the world. But it definitely has its challenges. And its pieces were I’m like, ‘Okay, am I really doing this?'” said Dillard Bassett to the publication.

In addition, she said her son, whom she shares with her husband, Chris Bassett, “is the sweetest baby.” She also shared that Jett “squeals and laughs at everything.”

“He is everything,” said the former Bravo star to the publication.


Candiace Dillard Bassett Said She & Her Husband ‘Couldn’t Be Happier’ About Welcoming Their Son

Dillard Bassett spoke about her son during a November 2024 interview with People magazine. She described Jett as “just the cutest little thing.”

“Chris and I couldn’t be happier. It’s so cliché to say, but he’s brought such joy to our lives in ways I never would have been able to describe before. It’s pure love!” said Dillard Bassett during the interview.

She also said that she is looking forward to her future with her son by her side.

“I just look at him and envision all the adventures we’re going to have. Throughout my pregnancy, when I would talk to him in my stomach, I would say, ‘I can’t wait to see who you’re going to be.’ And that’s been the joy in my heart that’s continued after his birth. It’s exciting to think about. I’m so ready for a lifetime of being on the sidelines, cheering him on,” said Dillard Bassett to People magazine.

Dillard Bassett made similar comments about supporting Jett while she was still pregnant with him during an April 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight. She said she was most “excited to just support [her child] in whatever they want to do,” even if it is something she is not interested in.

While speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Dillard Bassett, who exited RHOP in early 2024, said she would consider filming a reality television series with her husband and their son.

I think something like that could be fun,” said Dillard Bassett during the interview.

She clarified that she and Bassett “don’t have any plans to do anything like that.” She said, however, that she believes fans would enjoy seeing her navigate being a first-time parent. Bassett has two older children.
