Bozoma Saint John revealed that she is thinking of rebuilding after losing her Malibu beach house to the Palisades wildfire in January 2025.
In a January 2025 interview with the Los Angeles Times, the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star was asked if she plans to rebuild in Malibu or if she will settle somewhere else.
At first, Saint John said she wasn’t sure what she would do. “All those questions are in my head right now,” the former Netflix CMO shared. “There’s a part of me that is a fighter… it feels like somebody was trying to tell me no. It’s like, ‘Well, screw you. I’m coming back.’ And then there’s the practical side of me, which is like, ‘Girl, you don’t want to go through this again?’”
Saint John acknowledged that nothing is a safe bet and that there are no guarantees that something bad won’t happen no matter what she decides to live. “I don’t want to make decisions based on my fear of something tragic happening. And so, my instinctual feeling is that I’ll rebuild,” she said.
Bozoma Saint John Revealed It Was ‘Very Difficult’ to Get Her House in Malibu
On January 21, Saint John appeared on “Watch What Happens Live” where she revealed she owned the house in Malibu for about four years but “worked 25 years” to get it.
On Instagram, she wrote that she “prayed” for that house and worked “blood, sweat and tears” for it.
Speaking with the L.A. Times, she said, “I fought for every single inch of that property: from the process of getting it, which is its own terrible story, to the 25 years of work so that I could afford it. Nothing that I own has ever been given to me.”
The marketing executive added that Malibu felt like a “sanctuary” that she could retreat to without having to fly or drive for hours. “And it was very, very, very difficult to get it,” she said of her home.
She explained that not only were there few real estate choices on the west side of Malibu’s Pacific Coast Highway but that she experienced racism during her home search. “I had come up against situations where I put in an offer above asking and was rejected, so I knew that I had to probably find another way to eventually get accepted,” Saint John revealed. “I had to put the offer in a trust inside a trust in order to buy that house, so it wasn’t [obvious that it was] me, and that’s how I got it.”
According to Traded, Saint John paid $5.2 million for the beachfront home in 2021. She also owns a house in Los Angeles that has been featured on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
Bozoma Saint John Said Her Family & Friends ‘All Lost a Home’ Too
In her Instagram post, Saint John said her lost home has been a retreat not just for her and her daughter, Lael, but for their family and friends. “The house that I put a keypad instead of a key hole in the front door because I wanted all my family and friends to have a code and use the house whenever they wanted,” she wrote.
She elaborated on WWHL, telling host Andy Cohen. “It was not just my home but a home for my family and my friends.”
“It’s a difficult time because there are so many people who have lost everything,” Saint John told Cohen. “And it makes me wonder you know about just how we can be resilient and how you can continue to go on when things like this happen.”
