Why Doja Cat Had to Sneak Into a Super Bowl Ad

While most of the commercials you’ll see this Super Bowl Sunday are putting big name stars front and center, Grammy-winning artist Doja Cat had to sneak her way into the Super Bowl ad for Taco Bell.

Doja Cat Has Teamed Up with Taco Bell Before

Taco Bell and the rapper have had a long-running relationship, ever since Doja Cat starting demanding the return of Mexican pizza after it was taken off the Taco Bell menu in 2020. She even sang about it on Instagram live.

That campaign worked, with Doja announcing from the stage at Coachella in 2022 that Mexican pizza was coming back.

Also that year, Taco Bell invited Doja Cat to be in its Super Bowl commercial.

Taco Bell’s 2025 Super Bowl Ad Promises Fans As the Star

Fast forward to 2025, and this year Taco Bell says its Super Bowl Ad will feature fans. According to Taco Bell, more than 3,000 customers showed up for the “Live Más Drive-Thru Cams” across the country, in hopes of appearing in this year’s commercial. The traveling photo booths went on a multi-city tour in December, snapping candid pics during stops in Los Angeles, Houston, Cleveland, Cookeville, Tennessee and Wauchula, Florida.

“Fans really showed up and showed out at our Live Más Drive-Thru Cams, from bringing their friends and entire family, to renewing vows and sharing ultrasound photos, they demonstrated what it means to live más going through the Taco Bell drive-thru. And we can’t wait to give them the spotlight at one of the biggest commercial stages of the year,” said Taylor Montgomery, Chief Marketing Officer at Taco Bell.

But what about Doja Cat? “Doja Cat has been an incredible partner and one of our most iconic fans.,” says Montgomery. “Her passion for the brand is undeniable. But this year is about celebrating the everyday fans. While there’s a slight possibility for Doja and other friends of the brand to make an appearance, the true spotlight belongs to the fans who make Taco Bell, Taco Bell. This is their time to shine.”

Will Doja Cat Make the Cut for the Big Game?

In the ad teaser, Doja is seen photobombing the drive thrus. A drive-thru worker sticks her head out the window and yells, “For the last time, no famous people!” “I wanna be in the ad!” Doja Cat replies. When the worker tells her, “We’ve been through this, ya gotta go,” Doja stands her ground with a series of NO’s!

Will sharp-eyed fans catch Doja in Taco Bell’s ad during the big game? Stay tuned!
