While Zac Efron is a household name thanks to his Hollywood leading man status, his younger brother, Dylan Efron, has been quietly making waves in his own right as one of the fan-favorite contestants on season 3 of the Peacock hit, “The Traitors.”
While fans have learned about his reality TV knowledge, faithful gameplay, and charming personality on the show, little else is known about the burgeoning heartthrob. So, here’s everything we know about the younger Efron brother.
Dylan Efron Carved Out His Own Career In Hollywood
After Dylan graduated from California Polytechnic State University in 2013 with a degree in Economics, Zac invited him to move in, helping him get his start in Los Angeles, according to People. While the older Efron became a household name, Dylan chose to focus on a career behind the camera. He worked as a production coordinator on big-budget films like “American Sniper” and “Ready Player One.”
He also starred with his brother in the Netflix docuseries “Down to Earth with Zac Efron,” a show about their love for travel and adventure.
Dylan often shares his love for adventure on social media. His Instagram is full of photos and videos showing off his outdoor expeditions and love of extreme sports, often in far-off locales across the globe. This allows his loyal fans to live vicariously through his adventures.
He also pushes himself physically and mentally by competing in triathlons and marathons. In fact, in a recent interview, he compared the mental toughness it takes to participate in challenges like those to what he experienced on “The Traitors.”
Efron Reveals What Competing On ‘The Traitors’ Really Feels Like
Dylan became an immediate standout on season 3 of “The Traitors” when he was the first to accuse Bob the Drag Queen of being a traitor—which he was. The “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star also dubbed Efron “Miss Guided,” a nickname that he totally leaned into by adding it to his Instagram bio. He also formed a bromance with reality TV veteran “Boston” Rob Mariano.
In an interview with Men’s Health, he compared doing the show to the feeling he gets at the end of an endurance race while revealing the workout he did while in Scotland to keep his mental health in check.
“Training helped me in The Traitors mostly for my mental health—that game is a mind-(expletive),” he told the magazine. “It’s that same feeling for me as the end of a triathlon, at the end of a marathon, where you’re telling yourself, ‘I’ve got to give up.”
His workout included sets of pullups, reverse curls, seated cable rows, face pulls, kettlebell suitcase carry, and batwing rows.
As for his buddy Mariano, their bromance is alive and well, proven by a recent Instagram post the buddies set to the “High School Musical” song “Gotta Go My Own Way”—an obvious nod to one of his big brother’s biggest hits.
Mariano is also rooting for his friend to take home the $250,000.
Fans can catch Efron when new episodes of “The Traitors” air Thursdays on Peacock.
