Anne Burrell and Stuart Claxton first met on the dating app Bumble in 2018, and according to Burrell, the connection was instant. “We both knew immediately,” she told People. “This is really going to be real and this is going to turn into something.”

By April 2020, while isolating with Burrell’s family during the COVID-19 pandemic, Claxton proposed during a cozy date night in her hometown of Cazenovia, New York. Burrell described the moment as emotional and surreal, recalling how Claxton worked with her mother to plan the perfect night. “Then Stuart pulls a ring out of his pants pocket and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t believe this is even happening.'”

The couple tied the knot on October 16, 2021, at Windridge Estates Redbarn 20 in Cazenovia, New York. Burrell arrived at the ceremony via horse and carriage, embracing what she called her “fairy tale” moment. “I don’t care about the cheese factor,” she told People. “It’s my moment and I mean to have it.”

The wedding featured a Carolina Herrera gown for Burrell, custom Ralph Lauren attire for Claxton, and a seasonal menu that included pumpkin ravioli and short ribs. Even their cake, crafted by “Cake Boss” star Buddy Valastro, was made with flair.

Who Is Stuart Claxton?

Claxton built a successful career in marketing and communications, working with major brands such as Guinness World Records, TIME, and Univision. Since January 2023, he has served as Vice President of Marketing and Communications at NextUp, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Originally from the UK, Claxton graduated from Swansea University in 1993 with a degree in Spanish and philosophy. He later earned a master’s in media management from the University of Stirling. Claxton also has a teenage son, Javier, from a previous marriage, who often appeared on Burrell’s Instagram and served as best man at their wedding.

Despite not living together before marriage, Claxton and Burrell quickly found their rhythm. “It’s been wonderful, to say the least,” Claxton shared. “It’s been a whole adventure, but very lovely at the same time.”

Burrell echoed the sentiment in a 2023 People interview, saying, “I have to say, I love being married… It’s the being together all the time, but it’s also the adventure together.”
