Vivica Fox Thanks the Late Malcolm-Jamal Warner After His Passing

Actress Vivica A. Fox is the latest celebrity to express her sympathy over the passing of Malcolm-Jamal Warner.

Fox shared a black-and-white image of Warner to her Instagram story on Monday, June 21, after the tragic news.

She added a heartfelt message to the top of the image. “I’m stunned & saddened to hear about the passing of Malcom Jamal Warner,” she began. “Thanks for ya gifts king! #gonetoosoon #restinparadise #restinpeace.”

She added a king emoji that was between two praying hands emojis. The song “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday” by Boyz II Men played alongside the post.


More Details Emerge About Warner’s Passing

Warner passed away while on a family vacation in Costa Rica. He was 54.

He was swimming at Playa Cocles in Limón province, according to NBC News.

PEOPLE reported that authorities said the cause of death was “asphyxiation by submersion.” The outlet received a statement from the Judicial Investigation Agency. In it, it said “the victim appears to have entered the sea and was apparently swept away by a current.”

Warner “was rescued by bystanders and taken to shore,” however, they were unable to revive him. He leaves behind a wife and a daughter.

Warner is best known for his role as Theodore Huxtable on the popular NBC sitcom “The Cosby Show.”


The Condolences Pour Out for Warner’s Family

More and more tributes are shared to social media about Warner.

Actress Niecy Nash recalled how the two just recently spoke.

“My God 💔 we just spoke,” she began. “You were giving me my flowers for my work in @grotesqueriefx and we talked about how happy we both were in our marriages. Damn friend 🥲 You were cornerstone of The Cosby Show. We all loved Theo! Never to be forgotten. You will be missed.”

Tracee Ellis Ross, who costarred with Warner on the BET sitcom “Reed Between the Lines,” shared her heartbreak over the news in a touching post.

“I love you, Malcolm. First I met you as Theo with the rest of the world then you were my first TV husband,” she told fans. “My heart is so so sad. What an actor and friend you were: warm, gentle, present, kind, thoughtful, deep, funny, elegant. You made the world a brighter place.”

Magic Johnson took to X to share that he is praying for Warner’s family. He recalled how the two would often talk about basketball and life.
