Tributes are pouring in from across Hollywood following the death of actor Michael Madsen, who passed away from cardiac arrest at age 67.
Known for his roles in Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill” series and “Reservoir Dogs,” Madsen’s rugged charisma and commanding screen presence made him a cult favorite in American cinema.
Paying Tribute to a Fallen Co-Star
Vivica A. Fox, who co-starred with Madsen in all three “Kill Bill” films (2003, 2004, and 2006), shared an emotional message remembering her late colleague.
“I had the pleasure of working with Michael Madsen on ‘Kill Bill’ & several other films!” Fox said in a statement to the New York Post on Thursday. “Michael was a talented man with an AMAZING on screen presence! My deepest condolences & prayers to his family. #GoneTooSoon #RestInParadise.”
A Career Built on Grit and Gravitas
Madsen’s gritty performances made him a standout in films known for stylized cinematography and deeply flawed antiheroes. He earned critical acclaim for his role as Mr. Blonde in “Reservoir Dogs” (1992) and later cemented his legacy through recurring roles in Quentin Tarantino’s cinematic universe.
As film critic Courtney Howard wrote on X, “Michael Madsen’s creative partnership w/ Quentin Tarantino was a once in a lifetime spark. His work in KILL BILL is phenomenal, layering that down-on-his-luck lout with pathos & sympathetic sadsack grit, building him out into a complex, dimensional character. #RIPMichaelMadsen“
In addition to big-budget productions, Madsen’s legacy includes a decades-long filmography filled with cult classics, indie gems, and bold performances that defied mainstream expectations. Though he remained largely outside the celebrity spotlight, his influence on modern film storytelling is undeniable.

“We’ve lost another great American poet. Farewell, my dear friend,” Keitel, 86, told The Post.
Madsen’s representatives also released a statement following his death, recognizing the creative momentum he had built in recent years.
“In the last two years Michael Madsen has been doing some incredible work with independent film including upcoming feature films ‘Resurrection Road,’ ‘Concessions’ and ‘Cookbook for Southern Housewives,’ and was really looking forward to this next chapter in his life,” they shared with The New York Post.
