Sophia Hutchins, former CEO of the Caitlyn Jenner Foundation and a close friend of Caitlin Jenner, has died at age 29. TMZ reported that she was driving an ATV when she crashed into the bumper of a moving vehicle.
According to sources, she was in Jenner’s Malibu neighborhood at the time of the accident. It’s unknown at this time if Jenner is aware of the accident or witnessed it.
The ATV fell 350 feet down into a ravine due to the impact of the collision. Hutchins was pronounced dead when first responders arrived. The two passengers in the other vehicle were unharmed.
Hutchins Served as CEO for the Caitlin Jenner Foundation and Lumasol
Hutchins was born on April 1, 1996, in Bellevue, Washington. According to Deadline, she went to Pepperdine University, earning a degree in economics and finance in 2019. Along with serving as the CEO of the Caitlin Jenner Foundation, she was the founder and CEO of the sunscreen company Lumasol.
Hutchins met Jenner in 2015, around the same time Jenner announced that she was transitioning. Hutchins went on to appear in Jenner’s reality show, “I Am Cait,” which documented her transition from Bruce Jenner to Caitlyn Jenner. It also showed the challenges she faced both publicly and personally.
Hutchins Said Jenner Was Like a Parental Figure to Her
In 2017, Hutchins moved into Jenner’s Malibu home. Rumors persisted that the two were romantically involved. That seemed to be put to rest after Hutchins appeared on the “Juicy Scoop” podcast in 2020.
“It was never romantic. Never sexual. It was very much friends, but I understand why people perceived it that way,” she told Heather McDonald. “We never addressed it, and that was part of the problem.”
She also referred to living with Jenner as more like living with a parent. That had created issues when she brought dates home.
“We had to put a lock on my door because Caitlyn decided to barge into my room while I had a friend over,” Hutchins admitted at the time.
“It’s kind of like living with your parents, and I’m like, oh, this might be a turning point where I might need to move out,” Hutchins added.
“I don’t want to leave her by herself, but she also knows that I’m getting older and I want to be able to have my own life,” Hutchins told McDonald.
“I really like living there, my office is based out there,” Hutchins said. “[Caitlyn] converted the guest house into our office space. Everyone on my team is in the city. It’s tough to have everyone always drive [to Malibu].”
