One fan in the YouTube comments was outraged that the star of the long-running franchise, which began with “Mission Impossible” in 1996, has never won an Academy Award. “Get him an Oscar. It’s time. Not joking,” the fan said. The viewer went on to say the physical toll these movies take on the actors “should not be underestimated” and called Cruise “an absolute beast.”

When Is The New Tom Cruise Movie Coming Out?
An April 3, 2025 Variety report says “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” will be released in theaters by Paramount on May 23, 2025.
Cruise appeared at CinemaCon 2025 on April 3, 2025 to promote the movie, which is rumored to be the last one in the franchise. While there, he presented the movie’s director, Christopher McQuarrie, with the convention’s award for Director of the Year.
“McQ, as I like to call him, is not one for hyperboles,” Cruise started his speech. “He’s not one to pat himself on the back, and openly discuss his extensive and invaluable contributions to cinema and to every single artist that has been lucky enough to work with him,” Cruise went on. He said he was there because “I wanna give credit where credit is due to an exceptional artist.”
During his time at the convention, Cruise also led a moment of silence for his “Top Gun” costar Val Kilmer, who died of pneumonia on April 1, 2025, according to Today.
