Tom Brady Reveals His Throwing Hand Is Damaged

You’ll eventually get hurt with most contact sports, some more often than others. Tom Brady proved much more injury-resistant during his 23 years in the NFL than some of his teammates. He miraculously only missed a game due to an injury when he had his devastating, season-ending knee injury the first week of the 2008 season. But, despite not being listed on the injury reports, the broken bones and torn ligaments in his fingers have created an unbendable finger — a constant reminder of the years he devoted to football.

Brady’s ‘Chef Hands’ are Really Battered NFL Hands

Chef and YouTuber Nick Digiovanni and Brady decided to film a cooking challenge together. MasterChef Digiovanni made pancakes, Brady made waffles, and his son, Benjamin Brady, acted as judge. While using his fingers to pry the waffles off of the waffle iron, Digiovanni told Brady that he was impressed with his ‘chef hands.’ “You can touch really, really hot stuff, and you don’t flinch; you don’t have any issue with it,” Digiovanni explained.

When the videographer suggested chef hands may have something to do with his time playing football, Brady didn’t deny it. “These things got pretty beat up over a long period of time,” he said, holding up his hands. “See that finger? Can’t even bend that finger anymore. Even if you tried to straighten it (demonstrates it falling back down).”

Brady listed his various NFL-related hand injuries: “Torn ligament, torn ligament, broken, ripped open,” before returning his attention to the waffles.

Brady and Digiovanni Have Collaborated on Several Videos

Brady’s impressive ability to withstand heat may just be a byproduct of his damaged hands, but he still scored high with his waffles. Benjamin gave his dad an 8.75/10, which tied the score he gave Digiovanni. Considering how healthy Brady tries to eat and the ingredients he avoids, even Digiovanni was pleasantly surprised, commenting, “For a healthy waffle, it was incredible. The flavor was really good.”

The cooking challenge was the pair’s most recent YouTube video, but not the first. In September 2022, Digiovanni asked Brady what foods he would make for a Super Bowl party. Digiovanni proceeded to make everything he’d listed: buffalo wings, pizza, nachos, buffalo chicken dip, pigs in a blanket, and some bacon-wrapped jalapenos for good measure.

In one video, Digiovanni spent a day eating like Brady and rating each dish. The two have also teamed up on Digiovanni’s YouTube channel to make coffee shoes, electric lemonade, avocado ice cream, and a grilled cheese sandwich to rival Gordon Ramsey’s on TikTok. We hope to see more of the friendship and rivalry between Digiovanni and G.O.A.T. Brady.
