Tiger Woods Pens Emotional Tribute to Mom Kultida

Tiger Woods posted a tribute to his mom on his Instagram feed on February 4. The legendary golfer announced that his mom died earlier in the day.

“It is with heartfelt sadness that I want to share that my dear mother, Kultida Woods, passed away early this morning,” Woods wrote.

“My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable. She was quick with the needle and a laugh. She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible,” Woods continued.

He went on to say that his kids, Sam and Charlie, loved their grandmother very much.

“Thank you all for your support, prayers and privacy at this difficult time for me and my family. Love you Mom,” he added.

Woods’ mom was born and raised in Thailand, though she lived in the United States for more than four decades. She was 78 years old.

Tiger Woods Received Well-Wishes From Friends & Fans

Shortly after sharing the news of his mother’s death, Woods received warm messages and condolences from colleagues, friends, and fans.

“My deepest condolences for the loss of your mom. Her leadership and inspiration touched so many around the world. Her legacy will live on forever. Keeping you and your family in our prayers,” one person wrote.

“She and Mr Earl are currently embracing, reunited in the promised land. RIP Mama Woods,” someone else said, referring to Tiger Woods’ dad, who died in 2006.

“Thank you Tida. You and Earl gave us the man that revolutionized the game of golf. Rest easy. You earned it,” a third comment read.

Meanwhile, retired NFLer Tom Brady dropped by the comments section to leave a string of red heart emoji.

Woods’ longtime friend, President Donald Trump, also shared a post in honor of Woods’ mom.

“I was just informed that Tiger Woods’ wonderful Mother, Kultida, passed away — She has gone onto greener fairways! Kultida Woods was an amazing influence on Tiger, and gave him much of his strength and brilliance. Melania and I send our love and prayers to Tiger and his incredible family,” he captioned an Instagram post on the official Donald Trump Instagram account.

Tiger Woods Referred to His Mother as ‘the Enforcer’

Woods had an amazing relationship with his mom, whom he respected very much.

“My dad was always the person who would plant seeds and give me encouragement but also would say things that would fester inside me that wouldn’t come to fruition for a while,” Woods told USA Today.

“He was very worldly and deep in his thinking. My mom was the enforcer; My dad may have been in the Special Forces, but I was never afraid of him. My mom’s still here and I’m still deathly afraid of her. She’s a very tough, tough old lady, very demanding. She was the hand, she was the one, I love her so much, but she was tough,” he added.

In March 2010, Woods spoke out about his extramarital affairs and expressed regret for hurting his mom — as well as his then-wife, Elin Nordegren.

“I hurt them the most,” Tiger told ESPN at the time. “Those are the two people in my life who I’m closest to and to say the things that I’ve done, truthfully to them [was] very painful.”
