All the Signs ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 Is Filming In Jason Sudeikis’ Hometown

“Ted Lasso” season 4 may finally be underway—and all signs point to Kansas City. The Emmy-winning Apple TV+ hit is keeping fans guessing about its next move, but a new casting call and recent comments from star Jason Sudeikis suggest the beloved football coach could be popping up in the former “SNL” star and Coach Lasso himself’s hometown.

Casting Call Hints ‘Ted Lasso’ Could Be Filming in Kansas City

Kansas City may soon welcome a beloved fictional football coach—and all signs suggest it’s none other than Ted Lasso himself.

Alessi Hartigan Casting Missouri recently posted a casting call for a “major series” filming in Kansas City. The call requested stand-ins and extras for a wide range of roles: grocery shoppers, museum employees, sports fans, pilots, kids’ flag football players, and more. But it was the attached reference photos that sparked excitement—some of the actors looked strikingly similar to Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, and Jeremy Swift, who play central characters on the award-winning series.

While the listing doesn’t name the show, the clues—paired with recent comments from Sudeikis himself—paint a pretty convincing picture.

Appearing on the New Heights podcast in March 2025 with Kansas City Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce, Sudeikis confirmed that season 4 was in the works. “We’re writing Season 4 now. That’s the official word,” he told the hosts. When Travis asked if Coach Lasso was returning to the U.S., Sudeikis teased, “Yeah, that’s too many questions,” and slyly took a sip of his drink.

Rachel Kephart, Director of the Kansas City Film Office, responded to the buzz with cautious optimism. “While we’re always excited about film and television projects that might choose Kansas City, we’re not able to confirm specific details about any upcoming productions at this time,” she said in a statement to KCTV5. “We understand the enthusiasm around this possibility.”

Extras are being hired for filming throughout July, with a pay rate of $18.75 per hour.

What We Know About ‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 So Far

After season 3 of “Ted Lasso” wrapped in spring 2023, Apple TV+ stayed quiet about the show’s future. But in March 2025, the streamer officially announced that the feel-good series would return for season 4, with Sudeikis once again donning the mustache and whistle.

Details remain sparse, but Sudeikis has teased that Coach Lasso will now lead a women’s soccer team—suggesting a fresh chapter for the famously optimistic character. In a statement released after the renewal, he said, according to TV Insider, “As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap,’ in season 4, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”

Apple TV+ programming chief Matt Cherniss added, “’Ted Lasso’ has been nothing short of a juggernaut, inspiring a passionate fanbase all over the world… Everyone at Apple is thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Jason and the brilliant creative minds behind this show.”

Though Sudeikis is the only confirmed returning cast member, signs point to the comeback of several fan favorites. Nick Mohammed has hinted at a return, and Brett Goldstein—who plays Roy Kent—recently told “Jimmy Kimmel Live” that, despite the emotional farewell after Season 3, many of the cast members weren’t ready to say goodbye. “We did all cry and we did all hug,” he said, “but I also think if I’m honest, a lot of us, when we were hugging, said, ‘We’ll come back, won’t we?’”
