In a surprise overnight social media post from the newest episode of the “New Heights” podcast on March 14, 2025, “Ted Lasso” star Jason Sudeikis dropped huge news. The actor confirmed that the beloved Apple+ series — which was widely thought to have ended its run in 2023 — will return for a fourth season.
While talking to hosts Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce, who called the series “gold,” Sudeikis stunned the brothers with the big news about the series’ renewal. They both erupted in excited cheers.
Apple TV+ Confirms ‘Ted Lasso’ Renewal Hours After Jason Sudeikis Drops News
The big reveal came after Travis told Sudeikis on the podcast, “As ‘Ted Lasso’ fans, man, thank you — ’cause that (expletive) is gold.”
“I appreciate it, thank you,” the actor said.
Jason then asked, “Is there a season four? Is it in the works? I don’t know what I’m allowed to ask.”
Sudeikis shocked them with his answer, saying, “I think you can ask it, yeah. That’s what we’re writing — we’re writing season four now.”
As the brothers cheered, he continued, “Yeah, that’s the official word.”
Hours later, Apple TV+ head of programming Matt Cherniss confirmed the news, per The Hollywood Reporter. In a statement, he said, “‘Ted Lasso’ has been nothing short of a juggernaut, inspiring a passionate fanbase all over the world, and delivering endless joy and laughter, all while spreading kindness, compassion and unwavering belief. Everyone at Apple is thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Jason and the brilliant creative minds behind this show.”
In the same release, Sudeikis said, “As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to look before we leap, in season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”
Ted Lasso Will Coach Women’s Team in Season 4 of Show
In the hit series, Sudeikis played an American who takes over as manager of the fictional AFC Richmond soccer club in England. But he left the team in what was thought to be the series finale in May 2023.
On the “New Heights” podcast, the actor and series’ co-creator dropped another hint about the show, revealing, “Ted’s coaching a women’s team. So there.”
When Travis asked if his character will return to the U.S. in the new season, Sudeikis joked, “Yeah, that’s too many questions.”
It’s not clear yet which actors will return for the new season of “Ted Lasso,” but as rumors of a renewal swirled in August 2024, THR reported that Warner Bros. TV, which produces the series, had picked up options for cast members Hannah Waddingham (team owner Rebecca Welton), Brett Goldstein (former player and assistant coach Roy Kent), and Jeremy Swift (Richmond’s operations director Leslie Higgins).
Hours after the announcement, Deadline reported that Temple Juno, who played feisty public relations director Keeley, is in talks to return, too. The outlet said it’s learned from inside sources that the premiere episode will take place in Kansas, and then return to the U.K., with filming expected to start in July.
