Some of the best cosplay you’ll see this summer will be those found at Star Wars Celebration. The galaxy far, far away is filled with literally hundreds of characters, and at the annual fan gathering, obsessive viewers spend hours upon hours crafting costumes of their favorite Jedi, Sith or cantina creature.
And though some will dress as Luke Skywalker or Kylo Ren, one of the most entertaining aspects of Star Wars cosplaying is seeing costumes dedicated to the most obscure background characters you can imagine. For instance, an entire fan community has developed around Willrow Hood, a guy who runs by in the background for two seconds during the Cloud City escape sequence in The Empire Strikes Back. Sure, why not?
2016’s Celebration is also particularly exciting because for the first time in years, fans have a new movie to work with, and so dozens of characters from Star Wars: The Force Awakens can be added to the lineup.
Here is some of the best cosplay from Day 1 of Star Wars Celebration 2016. This post will be updated throughout the day with additional costumes, so check back in later on for more!
