Sky Hogan Celebrates Late Husband’s Legacy as Florida Declares Aug. 1 ‘Hulk Hogan Day’

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has officially declared Aug. 1 as Hulk Hogan Day in honor of the late professional wrestling legend, who died on July 24 at age 71 following a heart attack at his home in Clearwater. DeSantis also ordered U.S. and state flags to fly at half-staff across the state as a tribute to the WWE icon.

“His larger-than-life personality will be missed,” the governor said in a statement published in CBS, calling Hogan “an icon for many who grew up in the ’80s and ’90s as well as today. He was a true Floridian through and through.”

Born Terry Bollea in Augusta, Georgia, Hogan moved to Tampa as a child and became one of wrestling’s most recognizable stars.

Hogan launched his pro career in 1977 and became a global phenomenon after joining WWE, where he famously tore shirts and declared, “Whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you?”

He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 as an individual and again in 2020 as part of the New World Order faction.

Sky Hogan Pays Tribute: “Terry Would Have Been So Honored”

Hogan’s wife, Sky Hogan, shared an emotional Instagram post thanking the governor and fans for their support as she continues to grieve.

“Terry would have been so honored! Thank you, Governor Ron DeSantis, for declaring today Hulk Hogan Day in Florida,” she wrote.

“I’m still not ready to leave home yet, so if you spot any flags flying at half-mast, please send me a photo — it would mean so much. Your HH tributes, condolences, shared memories, and shared tears have brought me so much comfort.”

One week after the death of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, the official cause of his passing has been confirmed. On 31st July, Page Six shared documents from the Pinellas County Forensic Science Center. The reports confirmed that the WWE Hall of Famer died from an acute myocardial infarction — commonly known as a heart attack.

The report noted that Hogan suffered a sudden blockage of blood flow to the heart muscle, causing fatal tissue damage. His manner of death was officially ruled natural. In addition to the heart attack, the 71-year-old reportedly had a history of atrial fibrillation (AFib), a condition marked by an irregular and often rapid heartbeat.

Perhaps most surprising, the medical report also revealed that Hogan had been privately battling chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) — a slow-progressing form of blood cancer that affects white blood cells known as lymphocytes.

The diagnosis had not been publicly disclosed before his death, making the revelation especially poignant for fans mourning his loss.
