‘X-Men’ & ‘The Rookie’ Star Pays Tribute to Friend After Heartbreaking Passing

The loss of loved ones is difficult for everyone. As those who have experienced this know, the pain is ongoing, especially in situations where the person died tragically. Sadly, this happened to a friend of “X-Men” star Shawn Ashmore, and now he and his wife are speaking out about the loss. 

According to the Daily Mail, Shawn Ashmore and his wife, Dana, are opening up about the death of his friend, Mei Li Haskell. Shawn said, “Our hearts are heavy, but we feel some small sense of peace knowing there is finally a bit of closure.”

The statement continued, “We are mourning the loss of an extraordinary mother, someone who poured her entire heart into her three boys and never stopped putting them first.” Shawn and Dana initially met Mei Li Haskell in 2022 because their kids attended the same school in Los Angeles. She died in 2023.


Shawn Ashmore’s Friend Suffered a Violent Death in 2023

According to PEOPLE, Mei Li Haskell was murdered in November 2023. Her husband, Sam Haskell IV, was accused of committing the violent act. Not only that, but he was also charged with murdering her parents. Her parents were Gaoshan Li, 72, and Yanxiang Wang, 64. 

Police arrested Sam Haskell IV after finding a body part in a dumpster. The latest is that he has now passed away. Sam was behind bars at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles. He was facing a life sentence due to the acts he was accused of. It’s also worth noting that he was the son of a Hollywood agent.

Shawn Ashmore and his wife, Dana, also spoke to TMZ about Mei Li Haskell. They said she “was more than a friend; she went above and beyond for everyone who had the gift of knowing her. Her love, her laughter, her warmth — she’s deeply missed, and always will be.” They were previously unable to discuss the case publicly.


The Beloved Actor Will Continue Working Through His Grief

Regarding Shawn Ashmore, he has several upcoming projects. Notably, his ABC series, “The Rookie,” will return to the network for its eighth season. The hit show has been on since 2018. He is also set to star in the upcoming thriller “Just Breathe.” 

Additionally, the “X-Men” actor will appear in “The Huntsman.” Some of his other recent credits include “It Feeds,” “The Boys,” “Darkness Falls,” and the “Convicion” TV series, which lasted for one season on ABC.
