‘Scary Movie 6’ Marks the Return of 2 Fan Favorite Characters

When it comes to spoof films, the “Scary Movie” franchise ranks as one of the most revered. As a result, there has been considerable excitement for the upcoming sixth film. Now, there is confirmation that Regina Hall and Anna Faris will return for “Scary Movie 6.”

According to Deadline, Hall and Faris said, “We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn, and Marlon—three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again.)”

Fans Learned of ‘Scary Movie 6’ in 2024

“Scary Movie 5” arrived in theaters in 2013. While it was a success, the film didn’t feature Sean, Keenen, and Marlon Wayans in any capacity. Not only were Sean and Marlon staples in the movies, but all three of the brothers worked on them from a creative perspective.

Notably, most fans of the franchise credit them for making it what it became in regards to its legacy. According to Deadline, they are returning for “Scary Movie 6.”

Jonathan Glickman from Miramax discussed the upcoming film, saying, “We are thrilled to reunite Scary Movie with the Wayans brothers, the brilliant creators behind the beloved franchise. The timing is perfect to bring back the series to the big screen, and we’re lucky to have Keenen, Marlon, and Shawn’s unique comedic vision bringing it to audiences around the world.”

The Wayans told the outlet, “We couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the new Scary Movie and work with each other again. This is a franchise we created more than 20 years ago. We remember people laughing in the aisles and hope to see that happen again.”

They continued, “We look forward to working with Jonathan Glickman and his team at the new Miramax to bring these laughs to theaters, where they belong. It’s a double reunion.”

The Movie Will Arrive in 2026

According to IMDb, “Scary Movie 6” is coming to movie theaters on June 12, 2026. It’s unclear who will round out the cast in addition to Hall, Faris, and the two Wayans brothers. There is no announcement regarding the filming schedule for the upcoming horror spoof film. 

The return of Hall and Faris as the characters of Brenda and Cindy should help ensure success for the movie. Fans have been vocal about how much they wanted to see them back, as they didn’t appear in the most recent film.
