The main cast for “Ready or Not 2” was revealed in a video announcement from directors Radio Silence on Monday, April 21. The sequel to the 2019 horror film will see the return of lead actress Samara Weaving as Grace Le Domas, as well as feature performances from stars like Sarah Michelle Gellar (“Dexter” Original Sin”), Elijah Wood (“Yellowjackets”) and Kathryn Newton (“Abigail”) amongst others.
Searchlight Pictures Announces ‘Ready or Not 2’ Main Cast
Filming on the sequel project, officially titled “Ready or Not: Here I Come,” began in Toronto, Canada on Monday (April 21). In addition to Gellar, Wood, and Newton, the film will also star Shawn Hatosy (“The Pitt”), Nestor Carbonell (“Shogun”), Kevin Durand (“Abigail”), and horror master David Cronenberg (“Jason X”).
“We’re thrilled to be returning to the world of ‘Ready or Not’ with Samara, Brett [Jutkiewicz], Avery [Plewes] and Andrew [Stearn],” said filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet, known collectively as Radio Silence, “and so excited to work with this immensely talented cast and the incredible artists across every department joining the ‘Ready or Not’ family.”
Matthew Greenfield, the president of “Ready or Not” production company Searchlight Pictures, added, “We’re beyond excited to make another film with the phenomenal Radio Silence. With ‘Ready or Not: Here I Come,’ we get to go on another ride with the amazing Samara Weaving, mix in some awesome new voices, and bring audiences a fresh take that’s every bit as twisted and fun as the first one. This is for those who’ve been waiting, and those who didn’t see it coming.”
“Ready or Not” debuted to audiences worldwide in 2019 and saw Weaver portray a young bride who is forced to participate in a sinister family ritual by her in-laws on her wedding night.
GettyGenre Legends Join the Cast of ‘Ready or Not 2’
The forthcoming sequel welcomes legends of the horror genre to its cast, including Sarah Michelle Gellar, who has appeared in horror projects such as “Scream 2,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” and “I Know What You Did Last Summer” amongst others.
Elijah Wood, who rose to prominence for portraying Frodo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, will also appear in the sequel, following up on his performance in Oz Perkins’ 2025 horror-comedy “The Monkey.”
Durand and Newton, who starred alongside each other in the 2024 vampire flick “Abigail,” will appear on-screen together once more in “Ready or Not 2”. Durand will similarly star in the forthcoming horror “Clown in a Cornfield” from IFC films, which is set to debut in May 2025. Newton similarly has an impressive genre catalogue, having appeared in films like “Paranormal Activity 4” (2012), “Freaky” (2020), and, most recently, “Lisa Frankenstein” (2024). Despite her impressive horror credits, Newton is perhaps best known for her role as Cassie Lang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Ant-Man” films.
Canadian filmmaker Cronenberg will round out the recently announced cast. The decorated filmmaker, also known as ‘The Baron of Blood,’ is known for his work on body horror projects like “Shivers” (1975), “The Fly” (1986), and a 1983 adaptation of Stephen King’s novel “The Dead Zone.”
