‘Pawn Stars’ Rick Harrison Opens up a Year After Loss of Son: ‘Appreciate What You’ve Got’

“Pawn Stars” star Rick Harrison lost his son Adam to a drug overdose in January 2024. In a new interview, he opened up about what he has learned since the death of his son.

Harrison shared his thoughts during the March 19 episode of “In Depth With Graham Bensinger.” As The Daily Mail noted, Adam Harrison died at 39 of a fentanyl overdose.

After losing his son, Harrison shared during the interview that he spends as much time with his kids and grandkids as he can. “Appreciate what you’ve got, because you’re not always going to have it,” he shared.

Rick Harrison Second-Guesses Himself Constantly Now

During the new interview, Harrison shared, “I think about him every day. In his 20s, he had the drug problems, I mean, I put him in rehab so many times, and every time he’d do great and then fall back.”

He continued, “You’ll hear the same story from a million people. It got really, really bad, and apparently it wasn’t heroin, he got some fentanyl and it killed him.”

The “Pawn Stars” personality admitted that after losing his son, he second-guesses everything. He wonders about things he could have done differently that could have prevented his son’s death.

He recalled that at one point, Harrison’s son broke into his home. He got the police involved and explained, “I thought maybe if we put him in jail for two months it will clean him out, but he just went straight back on it.”

Harrison tried giving his son “tough love,” but he admitted, “God, you just never see the OD coming. I never thought that would happen. It’s hard.”

The ‘Pawn Stars’ Star Thinks He Did Everything He Could Right

As he reflected on everything he did while his son was alive, Harrison acknowledged, “I mean, I think I did everything right. You just sit in your head, ‘What if I did this? What if I did this?’ You know what I mean?”

Harrison admitted he thinks things like, “‘What if I just grabbed him, [expletive] locked him in the back of my truck, drove him to Oregon and put him over to where he couldn’t get [drugs]? I mean, you have a hundred things go through your mind.”

He added, “There is nothing worse than losing a kid.”

As People noted, Harrison has two other sons and four grandkids.

“I talk to all my kids on the phone almost every day. I love my kids, love my grandkids. You enjoy life,” Harrison shared.
