“Pitch Perfect” co-stars Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp are opening up about their close bond and why playing best friends in their new film was not much of a stretch.
The two actors hit it off right away when they met in 2012 and have been pals ever since. “We were in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and on the very first day of acappella boot camp, we went out to dinner together,” Wilson told People. “We obviously clicked.”
According to Camp, working with Wilson has always been a lovely experience. “Rebel is always very collaborative, that’s why I love working with her,” the actor shared. “She’s super funny, super talented, but also just very inclusive.”
How Wilson & Camp’s Friendship Has Evolved Over the Years
Wilson shared that the success of “Pitch Perfect” was “insane” and the cast, which included Adam Devine, Brittany Snow, and Anna Kendrick, got very busy as a result. But the friendships they formed remained strong. “I feel like we’ve all kept in contact because it was such a bonding experience,” Camp said. “So I just feel like we’ve stayed friends and gotten even closer.”
Wilson and Camp have had some similar experiences since their days as The Barden Bellas too. Wilson, 45, came out as gay in 2022 and has since married Ramona Agruma and started a family. Camp, 42, came out publicly in February 2025, revealing that she was dating stylist Jade Whipkey.
Camp credited Wilson with being there for her amid her announcement. “It’s been really wonderful to be so welcomed and so supported, especially by my really beautiful [and] wonderful friend here,” she shared with Pride. “Life is an evolution and I’m very happy where I am today.”
Wilson & Camp’s New Film
In their new film “Bride Hard,” premiering on June 20, Wilson stars as a secret agent whose work gets in the way of her maid of honor duties for her best friend, played by Camp. “Bride Hard” is an action movie, but the women’s friendship is at its heart.
When the opportunity to work together again came their way, both Wilson and Camp jumped at the chance. “When Anna said she wanted to do this movie, I was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s a no-brainer’ because when I’m in a scene with Anna it’s not really acting,” Wilson explained to People. “It’s so easy to play her friend.”
Camp felt the same way, and expressed wanting to continue working with her pal in future projects. “Let’s do ‘Bride Harder,’ she joked. “Let’s keep doing movies together.”
