Here’s everything you need to know about Heughan’s upcoming appearance and more.
A Spirited Evening with Sam Heughan
Heughan has played the role of Jamie Fraser on “Outlander” for more than a decade. But with the eighth and final season coming soon, he’s moving on to other projects. The 45-year-old is set to debut as Macbeth with the Royal Shakespeare Company. In September, he will be releasing a new book titled “The Cocktail Diaries: A Spirited Adventure.”
To celebrate the upcoming book, Heughan will host a cocktail masterclass titled “Sam Heughan: On the Rocks at the Edinburgh International Book Festival (EIBF)” on August 23rd.
According to the festival’s website, fans can expect to “journey around the world with Heughan as he shares his favorite cocktails, the stories behind them, and the memories they made.”
The book features Heughan’s top ten cocktails and a “Made by Friends” section with recipes from international bartenders. The “Outlander” star, who founded Sassenach Spirits, will teach attendees how to mix his favorite drinks. The event announcement also promises a “wee tipple” and an intimate evening.

Heughan reposted the announcement on his Instagram Stories to share the news with his 4 million followers. Of course, it sparked a wave of excitement.

As a Kirkcudbright native who moved to Edinburgh at the age of 12 and then later studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, Heughan’s EIBF appearance is a homecoming.
His cocktail class will last one hour, and will blend professional and personal stories that reflect on his rise from “local lad” to global star. Heughan’s event offers a fun, interactive experience for “Outlander” fans and cocktail lovers alike.
