Meryl Streep introduced the In Memoriam segment, paying tribute to the stars we lost this year. The video opened up with Mickey Rooney as the first fallen star. James Garner, Elizabeth Pena, Edward Herrmann, and Robin Williams were of course featured, as were many other beloved members of the Hollywood community. One legend who was left out, was Joan Rivers and fans were outraged.

The segment ended with a photo of Mike Nichols and Jennifer Hudson then appeared on stage to perform her song “I Can’t Let Go” in honor of some of our favorite celebrities who passed away this year. Watch Hudson’s performance in the below video.
