Congratulations are in order for Olivia Culpo! She and her husband Christian McCaffrey, who is a running back for the San Francisco 49ers, are expecting their first baby together. Culpo, who is a former pageant queen, made the announcement on March 10 via Instagram post, which featured a black-and-white maternity photoshoot with a caption that read: “next chapter, motherhood.”
Culpo followed up by sharing a video of her and McCaffrey posing and embracing each other in a grassy field as she showed off her baby bump.
Olivia Culpo And Christian McCaffrey Began Dating In 2019
Culpo and McCaffrey married each other in June 2024 — a year after getting engaged, but their love story dates back to 2019. They were set up on a blind date coutesy of some mutual friends.
The couple dated quietly for a little six months before confirming their romance in February 2020 while walking the red carpet together at the NFL Honors ceremony in Miami, according to People.
That same month, Cuplo wished McCaffrey a happy Valentine’s Day on Instagram, writing, “Happy Valentine’s Day to my best friend. Thank you for changing my life and showing me the kind of love I always wanted but never thought was possible. You are the definition of an answered prayer. I am the luckiest girl in the world ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
And when haters questioned Culpo’s motives for dating McCaffrey, the NFL player came to her defense, according to People.
Via Instagram, he replied: “1. Won Miss Universe on her own 2. World class musician 3. Self made millionaire 4. Actress 5. Model 6. On the board of multiple charities 7. Owns a restaurant 8. Owns multiple properties … She doesn’t need my money bubbs.”
Olivia Culpo Has Been Open About Her Endometriosis Journey
Culpo’s pregnancy announcement comes nearly five years after she underwent surgery for endometriosis. According to the Mayo Clinic, endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue often grows on the ovaries or fallopian tubes, which can make it extremely challenging to become pregnant. It affects around 190 million women worldwide, according to the World Health Organization.
“I want to have kids, but I want to make sure that I can,” Culpo said in a 2022 episode of TLC’s reality TV show “The Culpo Sisters,” which follows Culpo and her sisters, Aurora and Sophia, according to Page Six. “It could be really hard for me to have babies.”
She added, “There is so much that I don’t know about what’s going to happen in the future with that condition, and I worry all the time about my timeline. I feel like I have to have kids ASAP.”
At the time, Culpo voiced her frustrations about not being able to start a family due to McCaffrey being “completely and totally focused on football.”
“I always thought that by 30 I’d be married and have kids,” she said, according to Page Six. “I’m definitely the kind of person who likes to have a plan. Right now, I have no plan because I have so many question marks, so I’m freaking out.”
