After blowing up online and earning a devoted fanbase, Netflix’s “Nobody Wants This” is ready to roll cameras on its second season. But the big question is — will every fan-favorite character return?
The series, which premiered in September 2024, introduced viewers to Joanne (Kristen Bell), a bold, agnostic woman, and Noah (Adam Brody), a rabbi with a refreshingly unconventional approach to faith. Their unlikely romance quickly became the heart of the show, drawing praise for its humor, heart, and on-screen chemistry.

Who’s Returning for Season 2?
Joanne (Kristen Bell)
Bell shared her excitement with Variety in November 2024: “We’ve added some delicious people to the mix, [new showrunners] Jenny Connor and Bruce Eric Kaplan, which is very exciting. Nothing has been completely decided yet, but the writers have been in it for about a month. The season is roughly boarded out and I’m very happy.”

Brody is back and open-minded about what’s next. “I don’t care [what happens in season 2], as long as it’s clever and sweet and funny, you know what I mean?” he told Variety. “I want it to be good… true and smart and fun to play.”

What the Cast & Creators Are Saying About Season 2
Creator Erin Foster shared that fans won’t miss much of Joanne and Noah’s story between seasons. “I think we’ll pick up mostly more or less where we left off,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “Not the same night, but the same moment of, ‘So, what now? How do we do this?’”
According to a report in Marie Claire, Netflix reportedly advised against rushing the story or using “manufactured time jumps.” Foster adhered to that advice, allowing audiences to experience each moment in the couple’s journey as it truly unfolds.
Adding more excitement to the new season is a special appearance by Brody’s real-life wife, Leighton Meester. “He’s my favorite actor, and he’s my favorite person,” Meester told TVLine. “I get to be with my best friend, who I love and look up to… there’s so much love and trust.”
With this growing ensemble and lots of heart still in the mix, “Nobody Wants This” is shaping up to make a strong comeback when it premieres its second season on October 23, 2025.
