‘Stranger Things’ Star Millie Bobby Brown Has a Reason to Shave Her Head Again

There are many reasons someone shaves their head. Their hair could be thinning or falling out. Maybe they damaged their hair so severely that it’s the only option. Perhaps it’s for a role in a movie or play. Possibly, they just like the way they look. For Millie Bobby Brown, winning the role of Eleven in Netflix’s horror series “Stranger Things” was one reason, but the newlywed envisions shaving her head again so she can focus on her family.

Shaving Her Head was Liberating

“Honestly, I still — to this day — loved the experience and I would do it again,” Brown declared on the Call Me Daddy podcast. “I always tell Jake, ‘For my first baby I want to shave my hair off.’ Like, I don’t know, I just feel like it was really liberating, I would suggest it for anyone, any girl.”

Brown clarified that she wants to shave her head right before she gives birth. “I just think, like, hair is such an ordeal anyway to deal with. I’m going to nurture my child, why deal with my hair?” she said, reiterating how freeing it was to do as a pre-teen. “I had that experience as a girl, but I’d like to have that experience as a woman,” she confirmed.

People Bullied Her

Brown’s desire to shave her head again before her first child’s birth is admirable. What’s more amazing is the positive feeling she associates with having a shaved head, despite acknowledging the negativity her lack of hair garnered. “I would put wigs on, and I did get really, really, like, bullied in public,” she said. “People would, like, make comments and stuff.”

Millie Bobby Brown’s key seems to be her strong support system, which has also helped her stand up for herself and bravely confront those criticizing her appearance. Most recently, Brown posted a lengthy Instagram video calling out news publications and journalists she felt were unfairly dissecting her looks. The young star has proven time and again that she’s not afraid to speak up for herself.

“I just don’t allow outside noise to influence something that meant so much to me at that time,” she said. “I did love it. I would go home, and my mom and dad always supported, always hyped me up, told me I looked amazing. So that — it was a fantastic experience. It was when I stepped out my door when I felt like people were making me question if it looked good or not. But they didn’t infiltrate my front door.”
