Michelle Trachtenberg’s ‘Buffy’ Co-Stars Remember Her ‘Loving Energy’ & ‘Beautiful Soul’ After Her Death

Several former stars of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” have shared beautiful tributes in the wake of the sudden death of co-star Michelle Trachtenberg.

On February 26, the New York Post reported that Trachtenberg, 39, had died. She was known for several of her acting roles, including “Buffy,” “Gossip Girl,” and “Harriet the Spy.”

On “Buffy,” Trachtenberg played Dawn, the younger sister of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy. The series aired from 1997 to 2003, for a total of 145 episodes. Trachtenberg appeared in 66 of those episodes.

In the hours after Trachtenberg’s death was reported, “Buffy” stars Alyson Hannigan, Charisma Carpenter, James Marsters, David Boreanaz, and Emma Caulfield shared memories of their time working with her. Sarah Michelle Gellar also shared a beautiful tribute that incorporated a quote from the show.

Alyson Hannigan Remember the Energy Trachtenberg Brought to the ‘Buffy’ Set

Hannigan, who played Willow on “Buffy,” shared a handful of photos showing her with Trachtenberg via her Instagram page. “I am deeply saddened by the news of Michelle’s passing,” Hannigan wrote.

She added, “She brought a loving energy to the set of Buffy. My thoughts are with Michelle’s family and friends.”

One fan commented, “So sad to hear about Michelle! Loved Willow and Dawn together!! My condolences to family and friends!”

“So sad. Loved the dynamic between your characters on Buffy. So sad for her family,” added another.

“Such a sad loss. Michelle was amazing as Dawn and brought so much heart to Buffy. My thoughts are with her family and friends,” someone else wrote.

James Marsters Noted She Was ‘Fiercely Intelligent’

Marsters, who played Spike on “Buffy,” posted a photo showing him with Trachtenberg on his Instagram page. “My heart is heavy today. We have lost a beautiful soul,” he wrote.

The actor continued, “Michelle was fiercely intelligent, howlingly funny, and a very talented person. She died much too young, and leaves behind scores of people who knew and loved her.”

He also wrote, “My heart goes out to her family who are good people, and are suffering the greatest loss anyone could bear. I hope everyone can give them space to heal in this most difficult time.”

One of Marsters’ followers commented, “Spike and Dawn 😢😢 you were always so protective of her. 😢😢”

Boreanaz shared his tribute to Trachtenberg via his Instagram Stories. “So very sad …horrible news. RIP and prayers to her and her family,” he wrote.

Emma Caulfield Wrote Trachtenberg Was a ‘Bright Light’

Caulfield, who portrayed the character of Anya on “Buffy,” posted both an Instagram Story and a post on her feed about Trachtenberg.

In her Instagram Story, Caulfield shared a photo of the two ladies together at an event. “I’m so sorry your bright light died so young. Our Buffy family lost a little sister today … Rest in peace lovely Mish Mish. You were loved,” Caulfield wrote.

The Instagram post from Caulfield showed a photo of the two with a couple of other ladies and the caption read, “Sleep well Michelle.”

Carpenter, who played Cordelia on “Buffy,” also posted about the loss on Instagram. Her caption began, “I did not know Michelle as well as some of my other colleagues from Buffy, but it is never easy to see someone so young, bright, beautiful, and full of promise pass away. It’s devastating, actually.”

She continued, “I extend my deepest condolences to those who knew her better than I did—those who had the pleasure of working with her, those who loved her with all their might, her family, and her partner, whom I never met. I’m so sorry for your loss.”

Carpenter added, “I would be remiss not to acknowledge the undeniable impact she has had on the lives of her fans worldwide. She will live on through her performances and her love of storytelling forever.”
