In a recent interview with Elle, the 24-year-old actress shared that her mother made a conscious effort to keep the world of fame and glory separate from their family life.

“I really could count on one hand—maybe both—the number of times I went to set as a kid,” Mia said. “My mother really wanted to keep that world away from our home.”

Kate Winslet, who also has two sons from other relationships, believed her children should have their own unique experiences, separate from her life in the spotlight.

According to Mia, her mom would often say, “All of their experiences will be theirs and theirs alone.” And that’s exactly how it played out for the family.

One big reason Mia led a simple life, away from the spotlight? She chose to stay away from social media. “People say, ‘Well done’ like it’s an achievement, but I’ve never had it,” she said. “I don’t want it. I’d rather climb a tree without worrying about dropping my phone trying to take a photo.”

Although Kate Winslet kept her children away from the public eye, Mia and her brother Joe joined her as actors in the 2022 drama “I Am Ruth”. The show, which aired on ITV, was a special opportunity for the family to star together in a story that hit close to home.
