Meghan Markle Shares Rare Photos of Daughter Lilibet on Her Birthday

Whether they’re celebrating Mother’s Day, picking flowers, or making cookies, Meghan Markle loves to share with her fans how vital her kids are to her. “We’re a close-knit family, and I love those moments — putting Lilibet down for a nap, having lunch together, having sacred time together at the end of the day,” she previously told People.

The Duchess of Sussex and her family are celebrating Princess Lilibet’s fourth birthday — her golden. Meghan posted a sweet message to her daughter on Instagram, along with some never-before-seen photos.

In the first photo, the Duchess is shown cuddling her daughter in a boat on the ocean. The black-and-white picture features Meghan and Lilibet’s hair blowing wildly in the wind. Meghan looks down at her daughter lovingly.

In the second photo, Meghan is shown with Lilibet as a newborn. She’s wrapped up in blankets and asleep on Meghan’s chest. The Duchess’s face is bare. The black-and-white photo showcases her gorgeous freckles as she stares at her precious daughter.

“Happy birthday to our beautiful girl!” Markle wrote. “Four years ago today she came into our lives – and each day is brighter and better because of it. Thanks to all of those sending love and celebrating her special day!”

Harry Has Joked That the Ginger Gene is Strong in His Family

Meghan and Prince Harry welcomed Princess Lilibet — Lili — in 2021, two years after their first child, Prince Archie, was born. Her name, Lilibet Diana, is a tribute to her late grandmother, Princess Diana, and her great-grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth. Queen Elizabeth’s childhood nickname was Lilibet.

Lilibet and Archie both have their father’s red hair, something he says comes from his mother’s side of the family. No one was more surprised than Prince Harry when both children ended up with red hair.

“The Spencer gene is very, very strong,” he said on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. “I actually really, genuinely thought at the beginning of my relationship [with Meghan] that should this go the distance and we have kids that there’s no way the ginger gene will stand up to my wife’s genes, but I was wrong! Go gingers.”

But it’s not only hair color that Lili gets from his mother’s side. “I see a lot of my mum [Princess Diana] in Lili,” He said in the documentary, “Harry & Meghan.” “She’s very Spencer-like. She’s got the same blue eyes…”
