Meghan Markle Channels Princess Diana in New Instagram Footage

Meghan Markle has become increasingly more active on social media since launching her new Instagram account (officially) in January. The Duchess of Sussex has been sharing a behind-the-scenes look into her life in Montecito, California, ahead of the release of her new Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan,” which is slated to begin streaming in March.

On February 23, Markle took to Instagram to post a couple of videos that she took of her growing garden. In one of the videos, she was wearing a navy blue shirt that read “Northwestern” across the front in white lettering.

According to People magazine, the late Princess of Wales once stepped out in a similar top.

Meghan Markle Graduated From Northwestern

Years before she married Prince Harry, Markle attended Northwestern University. She graduated in 2003 with a double major in theater and international relations, per People magazine.

As for the similarity in clothing choices, it seems obvious that Markle’s shirt was a nod to her late mother-in-law. Per People’s report, Lady Di spent some time visiting the university in June 1996, about one year before her tragic death.

There are various paparazzi photos of Diana wearing the Northwestern sweatshirt while out and about in London.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Markle has worn something that drew comparisons to the late princess. In fact, Markle has been known to channel her husband’s mom from time to time — especially at the couple’s wedding in 2018.

As Harper’s Bazaar pointed out at the time, Markle wore a wedding dress with a similar cut to Diana’s on her own wedding day. Also, at the wedding reception, Markle wore an aquamarine cocktail ring that once belonged to her new husband’s mom.

Dozens of comments have filtered on a side-by-side post uploaded to People magazine’s Instagram account on February 24.

“They have so many similarities and wld have got along great. Sorry Diana is missing it all especially the cutie pie mixed grans,” one person wrote.

“Gorgeous picture,” someone else said.

“It’s prophetic as Diana surely didn’t attend NW,” a third comment read.

“I Love Megan!!!!” another excited Instagram user added.

Fans of the Duchess will want to be sure to tune in to her new Netflix series, which is sure to give another glimpse into Markle’s life at home with Harry and their kids, Archie and Lilibet.
