Zoinks! Matthew Lillard Joins ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2

Marvel Studios isn’t wasting any time building hype for “Daredevil: Born Again.” Season 1 hasn’t even dropped yet (mark your calendars for March 4, 2025), but we’re already getting major casting news for Season 2; Matthew Lillard is officially in. And honestly? That’s a pretty exciting addition.

“Daredevil: Born Again” Sets Up Conflict

According to Deadline, the “Daredevil: Born Again” series “picks up with our hero Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, amid a continued fight for justice through his bustling law firm,” following the original Netflix series “Daredevil” which aired from 2015-2018. “At the same time, former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.”

This setup promises a high-stakes showdown, especially with Fisk swapping crime boss duties for politics. But let’s be real; Kingpin doesn’t just go straight. If anything, giving him more power just makes him more dangerous. Matt might be trying to focus on his law career, but there’s no way he’s sitting this one out. With both of them fighting to outrun their pasts (and failing miserably), “Born Again” is shaping up to be a brutal clash for control… of the city, their reputations, and probably each other.

Matthew Lillard in the MCU? Yes, Please.

Lillard is the kind of actor who can do anything. Horror fans love him for “Scream,” ‘90s kids know him as the live-action Shaggy in “Scooby-Doo” which he went on to continue voicing in animated form, and more recently, he crushed it in “Five Nights at Freddy’s.” Now, he’s making his way to Hell’s Kitchen, and while Marvel Studios is keeping his role under wraps (because of course they are), it’s fun to imagine the possibilities.

Is he playing a villain? A morally gray wildcard? Some quirky lawyer who’s about to shake up Matt Murdock’s world? Whatever it is, you can bet he’ll bring some serious energy to the show. Filming for Season 2 kicks off next week in New York, so hopefully, we’ll get more details soon.

What’s Coming in “Daredevil: Born Again?”

For Season 2, showrunner Dario Scardapane has already teased that things are going bigger and darker, especially with the arrival of Muse, a serial killer villain straight from the comics. If that’s the kind of story we’re getting, Lillard’s character could be a total game-changer. But before we even get there (and to Lillard’s debut), “Daredevil: Born Again” still has to, you know, actually premiere and Season 1 is set for nine episodes.

Bottom line? “Daredevil: Born Again” is shaping up to be something special, and with Lillard in the mix, Season 2 just got a whole lot more interesting.
