“Only Murders in the Building” stars Martin Short and Selena Gomez shared a sweet moment together at the Golden Globes on January 5. While seated together, Short was seen taking Gomez’s hand and looking at her new engagement ring. The video was shared on Instagram by E! News.

Short took a close look at the stunning marquise diamond that Benny Blanco used to propose to Gomez in December 2024.

“Forever begins now,” Gomez, who served as a mentor on season 9 of “The Voice,” captioned an Instagram post last month. Blanco popped the question on a set complete with a Taco Bell picnic.

As Short moved the diamond around to see it from different angles, the actress smiled big. Many fans took to the comments section of E! News’ Instagram post to react.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, there were quite a few “Father of the Bride” references, as both Short and Steve Martin — who also stars in “Only Murders in the Building” — co-starred in those films.

“Oh my god, I’m going to cry, he’s like admiring her ring, that’s so adorable and beyond sweet…I absolutely love the bond Selena shares with both Marty and Steve,” one person wrote.

“That was such a dad move. He made sure it wasn’t too loose on her finger so she might lose it. Super sweet,” a fourth comment read.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Access Hollywood, Gomez joked that she’d be totally into having Short and Martin plan her wedding!

Selena Gomez Has Spoken Fondly of Working With Martin Short & Steve Martin

When Gomez first started working on “Only Murders” alongside Martin and Short, it was a bit daunting. The two are quite legendary in the entertainment business and have been filming for years.

In an interview on “The Jess Cagle Show” in December 2024, Gomez admitted that the first few times on set were nerve racking.

“I’m not going to lie, it probably took us a week because — I’m giving them this credit — they really took me under their wing. I was very nervous the first week, so trying to figure out my character a little bit, and get to know them came quite naturally because of how genuine they are,” Gomez said.

“They’re just honest. Also, they’re older and I feel like there’s such richness in getting older ’cause you just don’t care about things that are silly, you know, and this was the first weekend that I knew that it made me really happy. I was sitting — their chairs were next to each other and my chair was further away — and they looked at me and they said, ‘We shouldn’t have your chair separate from ours. You should always be with us,’ and I was like, ‘Thank you,’ and that was the first week, so yeah. They’re great guys,” she added.
