“The Handmaid’s Tale” star Madeline Brewer has officially found her happily ever after, all thanks to a dating app. The Emmy-nominated actress met cinematographer Jack Thompson-Roylance online in 2022.

And just two years later, the couple said ‘I do’ in a vibrant countryside wedding surrounded by wildflowers, music, and their closest loved ones.
A Whimsical Wildflower Wedding
Brewer revealed to Brides that English wildflowers and the iconic Tower of Ribbons at the Glastonbury Festival inspired the wedding. “I knew I wanted lots of color and the easy, floating on the wind feeling from ribbons blowing in the breeze,” she said.
The ceremony setup featured ribbon-adorned chairs and vibrant florals from Wild Honey Floristry. The rustic setting, just 20 minutes from the groom’s childhood home, even saw a few cows photo-bombing the moment.
A Vera Wang Gown & Vintage Wedding Style
The bride walked down the aisle to Jeff Buckley’s “Lover, You Should’ve Come Over”—the same song Thompson-Roylance played during his proposal. She wore a vintage Vera Wang ball gown, reworked into a strapless silhouette, paired with a Jane Bourvis veil from London.
Brewer kept the vibe easy and personal. “I wanted something absolutely simple. Something not at all intricate,” she said. “I wanted to look and feel like myself.”
A Weekend Full of Style & Celebration
According to Brides magazine, the couple’s celebration spanned two days. Brewer wore a 1996 Tom Ford for Gucci gown to the welcome party and a vintage Valentino dress from Shrimpton Couture to the after-party. Her groom wore Calvin Klein on Friday and Casely Hayford on Saturday.
Music, Ribbons & a David Lynch-Inspired Party
As the couple was pronounced husband & wife, “Head Over Heels” by Tears for Fears rang out. Guests were then treated to a feast by Pit & Plate and cocktails inspired by favorite David Lynch quotes.
Brewer and Thompson-Roylance shared their first dance to “Blue Moon” by Elvis Presley before guests hit the dance floor to “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie.
From Dating App to ‘I Do’
The pair met on a dating app in October 2022 while Brewer was starring in “Cabaret” on London’s West End. He proposed in Central Park in January 2024. Brewer announced the engagement on Instagram with black-and-white snaps and a sweet caption about celebrating with martinis and tears at Bemelmans Bar.
Brewer, best known for playing Janine in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” most recently appeared in the fifth and final season of “You” as Bronte, opposite Penn Badgley.
Now, she’s beginning a new chapter, with love, laughter & wildflowers.
