Kim Kardashian’s Fashion Influencer: Daughter North

Kim Kardashian brought full on cowgirl chic to this year’s Met Gala.

And while the reality star was no doubt surrounded by stylists who helped her craft her black leather Chrome Hearts dress and matching fedora, she had one influencer you might not expect.

On the Met Gala carpet, Kardashian told Vogue’s Emma Chamberlain that she likes to bring oldest daughter North West to help her get ready for the gala each year.

Chamberlain asked Kim, “What has she taught you about fashion, would you say?” Kim replied, “She’s a big critiquer, yeah. But it’s pretty good, her critiquing. Just be yourself.”

Kardashian says the 11-year-old is “in a good place” where she doesn’t encourages people to find their own style.

North West Watches Mom Work the Carpet From the Car

As in years past, North West watched her mom work the Met Gala carpet from the car.

There was no option of letting North come along as Kim Kardashian’s plus one.

The Met Gala has a strict rule that guests must be 18 and over.

But Kim says she loves bringing North with her each year to see her and her sisters get ready at the hotel. “It’s a fun few days,” Kim told the Vogue interviewer.

Kim Kardashian Hasn’t Missed a Met Gala Since 2013

But North West actually attended her first Met Gala the same time her mom did.

Kim Kardashian first climbed those iconic steps in 2013, when she was heavily pregnant with North.

And she hasn’t missed one since. Among her most iconic moments, 2022 would have to rank near the top. Kardashian borrowed the Bob Mackie–designed dress famously worn by Marilyn Monroe to sing “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden.

To fit into the dress, Kim was quoted in Vanity Fair saying she lost 16 pounds in three weeks.

In 2024, Kim said the corset on her dress was so tight, breathing was “an art form” that she had to practice ahead of the gala.

But in 2021, Kim rocked her most shocking look, covered head-to-toe in black, including her face.

For this year’s look, Kim’s cowboy was a nod to this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” with the dress code being “Tailored for You.”

The Chrome Hearts concoction featured a backless crocodile-print corset top and low-dipping skirt that proved challenging to walk in, especially when Kim and North were leaving the hotel and a security guard tripped on her train. That moment was caught on video by a bystander and posted to TikTok.

Kardashian’s sisters, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, attended too, dressed in Ferragamo and Givenchy, respectively.
