Reality star, business mogul, even “Fairy Buttmother” – Kim Kardashian has held a lot of titles. And now she’s one step closer to adding a new one: lawyer!
Kim just took the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE) according to multiple media outlets. The two-hour test is mandatory for anyone who wants to practice law in California according to The National Conference of Bar Examiners.
The organization says also a tool used to “measure candidates’ knowledge and understanding of established standards related to the professional conduct of lawyers” that is typically taken before attempting to pass the bar exam.
And while Kim hasn’t attempted the bar exam yet, she did pass the so-called “baby bar” back in 2021 after failing the test three times prior.
“For anyone who doesn’t know my law school journey, know this wasn’t easy or handed to me,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “I failed this exam 3 times in 2 years, but I got back up each time and studied harder and tried again until I did it!!!”
Kim Kardashian’s Growing Interest in the Law
It’s no secret that Kim Kardashian has entered the legal realm in recent years. She’s spent time lobbying for prison reform. She even visited the White House during President Trump’s first term, and again during the Biden Administration.
Kardashian has spent time on the phone with governors and legislators and written letters in support of clemency petitions. She’s also paid legal bills for people trying to get out of prison. Her 2020 documentary “Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project,” chronicled her support of the early release of four people who were convicted on charges including murder.
In more recent days, she has lobbied to get brothers Erik and Lyle Menendez released from prison. Kim even wrote a personal essay for NBC News about the case. In the essay, she details the two trials of the young men. The brothers were convicted of murdering their parents in the summer of 1989.
Kim Kardashian Has Said She’d Give Up Reality TV Career to Be a Lawyer
While Kim continues to participate in season six of her family’s Hulu reality series, “The Kardashians,” she’s said in the past that she’d be willing to walk away from it all for a legal career.
In 2023, Kim spoke at the TIME100 Summit, saying, “I would be just as happy being an attorney full time. The journey just really opened up my eyes so much. It gets overwhelming because there’s so much to be done.”
Kardashian Following in Late Dad’s Footsteps

Kim’s legal journey follows in the footsteps of her late father, Robert Kardashian. Kardashian became a household name when he served as one of O.J. Simpson’s defense attorneys for his 1995 murder trial.
“I know my dad would be so proud. And he would actually be so shocked to know that this is my path now. But he would have been my best study partner,” Kim remarked after passing the “baby bar.” “I am told he was notorious for making fun of people who didn’t pass on their first attempt like he did. But he would have been my biggest cheerleader!”
Despite her $1.7 billion worth, Kim recently tried and failed to purchase a Bible that belonged to her father. Robert Kardashian gifted it to O.J. Simpson during his trial. According to the official Goldin website, that Bible, which has Robert Kardashian’s name embossed on the cover, just sold at auction for $80,276.
